Lease on Golf R
Discussion
Had my car delivered from Cheltenham VW (Phil deal) and i'm absolutelu chuffed to bits. All the videos on youtube do not do this car justice. It's a beautifully made piece of kit and runs like a dream.
To all of you who are waiting, i know it seems like a long time but it's worth it.

So has anyone got a Solid White Manual 5 Door (bog standard) who is prepared to share some pics and thoughts?
Any good exhaust videos?
I'm on the edge of ordering a maintained deal with Arval now for delivery at end of March - my choice (NVS deal is too expensive really) and just want to finalise my thoughts!
Any help gratefully received!

Question to all those that have ordered and had delivery from Inchcape - did you get a choice of number plates?
to answer my own question (Thanks for all your input PH.. lol) Yes you can if you ask them to put a note in the file for nearer the time.
Won't be a lot to choose from but its something else to make a lease car feel more yours for the 2 years

That's good.
You ordered through Drive The Deal and they gave you VW as a finance option? Or you had to arrange that by contacting VW yourself?
Dtd just pass you on to one of their preferred dealers. All standard VW finance options are available. After dtd have put the dealer in touch with you, you won't heard from them again. All contact from then on is with the dealer direct. You ordered through Drive The Deal and they gave you VW as a finance option? Or you had to arrange that by contacting VW yourself?
Just found this on the web, really interesting

The excitement is building...just 1 more sleep until she arrives.
TBH had the excitement reduced due to the hassle on my R26 (some toe rag keyed the entire side 3 days before it was due to be sold!) but I am sure a blast around the local "test" roads will put a smile on my face!

I'm waiting (impatiently) for the cooling off period to expire; Monday 22nd for me! To rub salt in the wound, the missus picked up her brand new A1 Style Edition...Looks the pups nuts!
I must have been lucky with the cooling off period - we got a letter after we got ther car saying we had a cooling off period, if we don't want it, stop driving it and contact them. Which, to be honest, it what I would expect. Strange that people are not allowed delivery of the car until the cooling off period has ended...I don't think that's in the spirit of what a cooling off period is.
When I worked in phone sales, you had Distance Selling Regulations which meant if you ordered a phone online or over the phone, you could get it sent out, try it and if you didn't like it, let them know within 7 days and then send it back. Opened. Tried.
Oh well.
Well, seems I've still got quite a long wait ahead of me so let's see some more pics and comments posted up by those of you who have already taken delivery.
On a personal note, I'm particularly interested to hear about and see some pics of the interior with the manual gearbox.
Yeah, it's sad living vicariously like this...

1) Sign order
2) Sign lease agreement
3) Vehicle Ordered (11/09/2014)
4) Copy of the lease agreement returned (dated and signed by the finance co)
5) Cooling off period starts from that date (14 days)

I think is was maybe an issue with Phil not making others aware of the orders, so when he left there was a load of paperwork that needed doing. I offered to put in writing that I didn't want the cooling off period but them aren't interested!1) Sign order

It all depends how you handle it.
I picked up my car the day I got my docs back from Arval (they were sent on the Friday to Arval, docs came to my house Tuesday), but I agreed verbally with Inchcape (Phil) that I would not return within the 14 days, probably not too legal, but I had the car early and I'm thankful for it, and of course I didn't cancel the agreement..
I also didn't choose the reg, but got what I think was a good one anyway, so I'm happy with that. :}.
I'm not sure how the 14 day cooling off period SHOULD be handled, but from what I've read by other companies such as gateway2lease etc, they will not allow VW to release the car until that period has ended (even though they're the owners), because otherwise they're stuck with a technically 2nd hand car, but with nobody to buy it (they've already bought the car from VW remember).

There is a white Golf R parked right outside my office door quite often - not sure whose it is but I'm convinced it's there to tease me. White looks good when sparkling clean, but this one is always a bit grubby and it has a couple of dings and alloy scuffs already, so I'd say if you are the sort of fanatical car owner who cleans their car twice a week go white, otherwise get a silver/grey one!Any good exhaust videos?
