Me too. Got the text: "moved to stage 3 of 7"

Check on line : "Your order has been confirmed for production week commencing"

Yes that's it. No actual build week number on the screen. Donkeys.
The tracker can be a shambles. I called VW through their customer service line last week, they'd told me that build week had been confirmed. A few hours after that I received an e-mail to say that the tracker updated (without a date) and finally updated with a date about a day or two after.

Build week 40 here, although going to delay collecting/taking delivery of the car until I get back from holiday...can't wait!

Does yours not list the production week commencing 5th October?
No. I called VWCS 2 weeks ago and they said provisionally wk41 although it could come back to wk39. Although reading the above post I guess it'll sort itself out in a couple of days. There's no rush as the cayman hasn't sold yet.

what date did you order?

So It arrived at 2-30 yesterday afternoon - loads of watermarks where it wasn't dried off!

Looked over and there are 2 paint blemishes on the offside front wing - look like stone chips but the surface is smooth so looks like the painting wasn't great. Whats more how does the factory and dealer not see these??

I am waiting to hear back from the supplying dealer about how they want to correct this - will post again when I know.

A couple of other questions:

I was told they only put regular unleaded in despite the fuel cap showing 98 Oct minimum. Did anyone get super in their tank on delivery?

Also is the Owner manual specific for the R as mine is a generic Golf one and contains no info at all about the R -it lists the entire range up to the GTI in its technical info pages but nothing on the R??

I had a 15 mile blast over my favourite B Roads this morning and it is quick..will be better with some V Power in it!!

I always thought the idea of these cheap 2 year lease deals was to just drive the bloody thing then throw back the keys! By the time it goes back it will be full of stonechips etc.

I didn't say I wanted to hand it back for a week - just exploring what the possibilities are for now.

Now out for a thrash...

Regarding the handbook - mine came with the same GTI/GTD manual. I'm unsure if that's simply because there's very little kit on the R that the driver would be able to tinker with, that isn't identical on a GTI? Either way, 4 days in and my initial concern that I should have been sensible and got a GTD, no longer applies. One-heck-of-a-piece-of-engineering.

Got the same text yesterday.
Mine's also a 5 door Lapiz blue manual.
Originally ordered 16th June as a personal contract, but had to reapply 3 weeks later as a business contract!

Nope, if it comes back to the lease company with issues and a ton of stone chips, you'll be footing the bill for the repairs!

Had to be manual for that price, DSG adds a good chunk (£1500 or so).

Congrats on purchase, you won't be disappointed :}.

As I've not got off road parking it's probably just as well I'm not getting one.

A friend over near Oldham had their door kicked in and their young family threatened at 9.30 in the evening last Friday by a gang in balaclavas - just to steal a brand new Golf GTD! Without wanting to be a depressing bringer of doom, it would worry me if I'd ordered a Golf R. I'd want to keep it in a garage!

Then again I've been told having a nice car parked on the road instead of a drive makes it less likely to get robbed in this way as it doesn't identify the house it belongs to!

It does seem to be a more geographic problem, not heard of anything around here (Oxford), there are loads of much more valuable cars than my golf on peoples drives.

Hi guys, I've not read all the posts on here, but have you all got them on business contracts?

I've just been offered the following on a PCP and thought that was good until i saw some of the posts here!

Golf R 3 door DSG in Lapis Blue, over 3 years £285 deposit and then £360 per month, GFV came in at £20460.

Cheers.

A lot of the cheaper quotes you've seen would be the cheaper, business contract hire.

I've a personal contract hire deal which is going to cost me c. £980 deposit + £326 p/month on a 3 + 23.

That's on a pure white, 3dr & DSG.

Are you sure your deposit is only £285? Even the "cheap" PCP deal I was offered as an alternative had a deposit of £2,000!

Yeah he offered the discount of £3260 which brought the price down to £28590. I asked how would that work with my deposit, he said we'd only need a 1% deposit which is the £285! I asked again to clarify that all I had to put down was that £285 and then £360 a month and he said yes!

I also changed the figures on the VW site to leave £28590 to finance and it does work out! over 3 years.
