So due to work, I have only had chance to put 100 miles on the car and most of that sitting in traffic, so I thought I would take her out over my "test" route this evening.

Whilst the mid-range acceleration is impressive, I think the DSG car may be torque limited in 1st and 2nd gears as the shove appears much stronger in 3rd and 4th - anyone else know or feel the same?

I also had the "pleasure" of a significant rattle from the rear nearside door area appear after a few minutes - pulled over to find out the carbon effect trim surrounding the door handle, window switch etc has popped out from its housing and is wobbling around! Hardly the build quality of a £32.5k car!!!!

I am due to pop in to the local dealer to show the paint blemishes so they can deal with this whilst I wait hopefully.

The gear/torque thing is likely due to turbo spool up time and the build quality will be that of a £16k car. They don't build the R any better than the entry level Golf. A golf is a golf. The extra money pays for the engine and other bits.

It will all depend if the ordering Dealer had a car already in a production slot or if the order had to go onto a wait list.
Nope, i had to wait for my build slot, it was even built a week late.

Long time lurker on this thread....... My car was ordered through Freedom (mid June) and re-ordered/transfered over to a business deal several weeks later.
My car was completed about 4 weeks ago. I have been ringing the dealer (Johnsons VW, Tamworth) /broker every week or so for an update. Last Tuesday it transpired there had been a cock-up apparently 'VW have changed their systems and the dealer now has to request the car to be shipped rather than this happening automatically'. For some reason mine is still awaiting ship. They can't give me an update until Friday. The guy at the dealer is very poor at returning my calls and providing updates. He is very vague about what has gone on!!

Anyone know if this is true?

Yeah the build quality really is awful! I'm having a new clutch put in next week, my drivers window creeks, interior cloth trim not correctly finished off and the sound actuator sounds like a wasp it vibrates so much! Not to mention already having a new ecu/abs control unit/heater matrix! In comparison my wives 1 series is built really well.

Load of bks! Car get build/moved to Embden, then shipped to Grimsby or the port in the east (cant remember the name). They are allocated the vehicle to their garage, it's then tracked in a similar to how you see it. Unless this has changed in the last few weeks, BUT can you imagine the 100+ garage all having to say yes we'll take our car, whilst it's in Emden in a line of 200 cars..... and two of those cars haven't been given the go ahead.... logistically i just can't see it.

Does the car come with a media cable as standard or do I have to ask for one? Mines with Arval and due for delivery on Monday. Will I get 7 days free insurance and mats?

Several pages back my R arrived 1st Sept with soaking rear seats and significant water under the boot carpet. They returned the car after drying out and water testing for 10 hours with no fault found. Couple of bits of insulation replaced and the addition of two nice dings to the front of the bonnet. Both chipped through the paint and one physically dented about little finger nail in size!! A miss understanding at dealership led to damage being overlooked. Needless to say they drove it away again for repair and paint to bonnet.

I'd been provided with a new GTD as a loan which came without a tax disc but DVLA 14 day grace letter for non display. Yet another oversight at dealers meant tax disc was never forwarded to me within 14 days and ended up with an illegal vehicle to due failure to display valid disc.

All in all, pretty shocking experience. Delivered 1st, taken away 2nd, redelivered 11th and taken away again within the hour. It's coming back tomorrow, 18 days after it should have been here. Fingers crossed there are no further problems.

Better not have any of these issues when I get mine, especially as I'll have waited 5 months by then! :/

I still can't figure out the real reason why some get their cars quickly and some have to wait ages: it doesn't seem to be down to options or to how or where the order is placed confused

Phil / Inchcape.

Coincidentally just heard from Dave with an update - still no confirmed build week(!) but he says there are various reasons why some orders are coming through quicker than others but they include the DSG / manual cars and some of the other options can delay delivery. As I went for manual plus a few options, seems likely this is the reason. Ho hum!

Central vehicle leasing have 10k pa and 6+23 at 204 + vat for business users and 250 plus vat (300 all in) for personal...

Is that the best offer right now? Tempted to order?

Is there any more m135i deals around?

Yes it is true. Fleet orders that had a customer hand over date of October or later are being held in Germany, unless they are requested manually by the dealer. This was to allow space for September delivery cars to be on the boats / at sheerness or Grimsby.
