Gateway2Lease are advertising them as a stock car, which seems at odds with this thread. Is it likely to be low spec, cancelled order etc ? Or is there a possibility the deal doesn't really exist?

Going by the past hundreds of pages, just the usual false advertising by the lease companies.

It won't be in stock, and more than likely the deal they post you won't get for that price either.

I emailed on Thursday and they didn't have stock. But the deal says updated today, so maybe they do now?

No chance, I couldn't even get a test drive of a Golf R due to demand.

Maybe I'm just weird then.

But having a brand new, shiny car which is the top of the range, with loads of toys I've never had in a car before, along with the first auto I've ever had, along with the most powerful engine I've ever had + with decent traction is enough for me to have wet pants for the weeks leading up to its arrival.

Even if it was a fiesta 1.1 ecoboost, buying a new new car should be exciting for everyone otherwise whats the friggin' point of working hard?
No your not weird, maybe the other guy was spoilt as a child or just has issues.
Ive owned an e46 M3, 2 Subaru STIs, a golf GTI amongst many cars and i am like a kid in a candy shop. A 300bhp 4wd beast with loads of toys! whats not to get excited about?

Sorry if you don't get excited then buy something else.
It's going to be disappointing after 7 years in a Cayman but I'm too poor to buy another so the Golf is the best package for the money, I could find.

I've learn't a lot in the last 6 days about the internet and leasing deals. I've got us onto the whatcar leasing website with our 5 brands and I've been inundated with enquiries from genuine buyers who just want a genuine deal with a genuine delivery time.

You'd think it was rocket science and I've picked up new business by simply being honest with our deals and stock availability.

Same here. Its only a chuffing Golf after all.
yeh, in the same way that the lotus carlton was only a carlton.

I mean, why would you bother?
Not sure I follow? Is the Golf R a Lotus Golf?

I got excited when I bought my Lotus Elise, my VXT and my Megablade. But not my Golf R or Audi S4.
I'm not quite sure I'd say "its only a chuffing Golf" but I'm with you on the premise.

When I bought my 123d I thought I was excited (I was probably excited because I thought I should be) but when I bought my Evo I was like a 6year old on Xmas morning hehe Genuine excitement. I can't see the Golf giving me that feeling... But for 6.7k over 2years :P who cares laugh
Fair enough. I may have been slightly exaggerating with "only a chuffing" smile But it is a hatchback to get me to work that has more power than most. Only went for it as it was cheap.

It the other comment elsewhere about being spoilt as a child was aimed at me then I can assure you there is no room for being spoilt being brought up in single parent family on income support. But you work hard, you earn good money, and your perspective on what makes an exciting car changes. That's just human nature I guess.

Was about to sign up to the freedom deal but in the T&Cs I found this:

"I/We fully understand that the terms and conditions set out below are subject to revision due to either, (a)"Freedom Vehicle Contracts Ltd" being unable to obtain the above vehicle at the figure upon which their quotation has been based, or (b) there being an increase in funding and/or manufacturing price increase/charges which are beyond "Freedom Vehicle Contracts Ltd" control. In this instance I/We shall have the option to cancel and any monies paid will be refunded (This excludes any processing fees and holding fees which are non refundable.)"

I have gone back to them as when I discussed this with them last week I was told that if they had to change price or cancel the order, any payments I would have made would be refunded and I wouldn't be liable for anything else. However as per above this seems to indicate the £200 admin fee wont be refundable and call me pessimistic but what's stopping them taking loads of orders at this price and hiking them up closer to March in knowledge they keep £200 if someone doesn't proceed....

Have questioned them on this but no response, I'll keep an open mind and see what they say on this but it is a bit of a deal breaker for me.

For others who have ordered, is this the case with all the other suppliers? CVL, NVS etc?

Thanks

Yes. CVL have sent an email saying they are asking customers for the fee within 7 days but doesn't say what happens if you don't pay it within that time.

Take the deal you have to a VW dealer and they will probably match it without any admin fees too!

Pixel, do you mind me asking when the paperwork was sent to you to sign, and in what format? I've just received the update stating that the car's in it's final transit stages to the UK but yet to receive anything to sign and send back.

Also, does your tyre cover include punctures etc? I was told by Inchcape that it doesn't? Still went for it though, as I presume the cost of tyres and maintenance would pay for itself, albeit split over the two years.

Paperwork was sent via email, PDF's and MS Docs as far as i remember. There is only actually 4 pages you need to sign so you will need the ability to print, sign, scan and email back if you want to do it all electronically.

I got the paperwork once all the proofs were accepted - have you been asked for bank statement / driving licence scans yet?
Punctures - sticky one, I'm sure ARVAL covered punctures, but i know VW direct do not. so No puncture cover for me.

Tyre cover was £3 per month, which is like £72 for the two years. one tyre is going to be at least double that and you will need at least two tyres in two years (by my reckoning).

They state that you must replace tyres with the same brand so it would be expensive to do that without the cover.

just ordered.. after messing around getting quotes fo the various leasing companies my local VW JCT dealer came back with the most competitive quote without any haggling at all. VWFS finance deal.

£275.99 on a 3+23 with metallic paint 5 door. That on 10k so I will have £720 to pay at the end as I do about 15k.

Maintenance (incluging the additioanl 4.8pp excess) would stand me at £960 for the two years.. I thought that was a bit much as I expect to go through 2 tyres and a service, so unless I am unlucky it will be the right decision.

I will get GAP - any suggestions please?
I may get tyre/curb insurance - any suggestions please?

Great, thanks for that. Strange as I sent off my proofs about 10 days ago when I decided to go ahead with the VWFS offer rather than Arval. Suppose I'd better shoot an e-mail across to the dealer.

Exactly the same reason I went for Tyre Cover & Maintenance, felt that if I'm paying so much per month anyway, may as well add a little more and make it even more hassle free.

Don't forget pictures when yours is delivered!

surely tyre cover only coves punctures.. not replacement for wear and tear? or is that what we are syaing here?

Quite tempted by the deals which are around for these... seems a very cheap way to get into a brand new 30k hot hatch that is getting fantastic reviews.

3dr
Red (Possibly Lapis Blue)
Manual
19" wheels
Winter Pack

...so nothing too outrageous. Great to read that some of you guys think that my local VW dealership will be able to match online deals too, which would be great since we've bought cars through them previously and have had great service. Would it be corporate sales that I need to contact or do you think a salesman in the showroom have access to these deals too??

Cheers,
Grant

Wear and tear rather than punctures, with VWFS that is. As Pixel said, I'm sure Arval's deals were offering puncture cover, too.
