Haven't actually taken that many pics!

The day I got it

fuel economy isn't bad, I average 23mpg but it spends most of its time in town commuting to work and back, I have managed 34mpg on a longer run but im not very gentle with the throttle.

there are a couple of after market exhausts but im waiting for the BCS turbo back system, potentially an uprated intercooler then go back in for a map tweak. no fancy suspension or wheels as we have our first due in a months time

Nice - out of interest does the extra 70bhp make a massive difference?

Superchips are offering an extra 59bhp for £399, which doesn't seem too bad, and quite tempting.

Bear in mind you will loose drive train warranty

The extra power is good but the torque is what makes the difference, standard is 280lbft mines now 360lbft,and that's where you feel the kick, midrange is so strong pulls so quick round the clock

I'm guessing it's not leased, then?

Just got mine this morning, insurance etc already sorted so went to drop off the guy who delivered it to the station. Yet to get to grips with it fully, waiting for the morning rush to end before I go to Shell to fill it up. First impressions though are that it's going to be a great car for my use and I'm going to enjoy it thoroughly. The sound is fantastic so far, will see how I get on before deciding to unplug the aktuator and exhaust tabs.

Those that have gone with the CVL deal (£2000+VAT up front + £179.99 + Vat pm for 5DR DSG), have they advised
regarding the VW price increase.
The CVL agreement states: Price may be subject to change in event of manufacturer price movement.
Don't think the agreement is of any substance, if you agreed to one price and they come back with another, they have chanegd the deal and this would in turn give reason to no longer proceed.
If you have ordered before 1st Nov and therefore secured the lower price I can't see how they can pass on any increase.

Any thoughts?

I understand what previous people have said about enjoying the car too much to take pics! Will have some up soon.

First impressions are that it'll be a great all rounder. Still need to get used to stop and start, had a bit of a wobbly when reversing into my drive and didn't want to touch the throttle for fear of backing straight into the wall! Other than that, seems to be great, the interface on the screen works well and the power....the power! Then again, I'm coming from a car with half the hp so I suppose anything would seem quicker!

Bad news from my local dealer, they don't offer PCH on the Golf range. Have asked for PCP figures, but have a feeling that the figures will be far less attractive than the numbers thrown around on this thread.

"we have 2 cancelled orders that were ordered through
our Small Business campaign but when they came to underwriting both
customers were not eligible for the terms but had read on internet
forums that this was a route to a cheap Golf R. Volkswagen thoroughly
check out all Small Business deals for eligibility and cancel those who
do meet the specific criteria"

Direct quote from this guy, who is very helpful and seems to be pretty switched on when it comes to VW products and services so I don't doubt him. Have there been Golf R delivered (not just confirmed orders) to private customers who ordered under the business campaign, or have all these customers been caught in the net??

Cheers,
Grant

I have just had my offer confirmed and will be happy to share once I've slept on it and either gone ahead or not which will probably be tomorrow.

I am just mulling over the mainenance and tyre option which basically works out at £800 over the two years.

Tyres are about £80 each plus fitting. I have been told conflicting things with regards service intervals and the dealer. The dealer said the Longlife Service option isn't available on this car so it would be fixed 10,000 or annual servicing resulting in 2 services at £150 and £250 respectively. So I phoned VW Fiancial Services and asked whether if I did less than 20,000 miles I would need to have the second service completed before handing it back on the second anniversary. They said it depends whether the service light comes on which depends on driving. They then checked with maintenance and said that the service indicator is enabled by default and that is what would determine the necessary services. Apparently the maintenance department guy said that if it is driven reasonably then it is likely only one service would be needed.

In view of the above I'm thinking one service plus say two tyres would be about £350 or four tyres about £520 and two services and four tyres (worst case) about £750. I'm tending towards self funding on the basis I should be no worse off but could be better off. Presumably break pads should last that long? I can't think of anything else.

Any thoughts?

SKM1984... I would be very careful if I were you.

You have broken the terms of your lease.

The lease company will not take too kindly that you have modified their car (Especially with a remap that leaves a TD1 code)

You've clearly bought a Golf R due to the cheap lease deals but if you don't wise up, it's going to end up costing you a fortune. Do you have £30k down the back of your sofa to compensate your lease company within the next 30 days? If not, I suggest you buck up your ideas.

Think about it for a minute here, VW are leasing these cars very very cheap. What's the catch? Where will they recoup money? Yep, that's right, on handover time in 2yrs.

It doesn't take the brains of Albert to work any of this out.

Grant, VW dealers definitely do PCH as I have placed an order with them this week and it has all gone through ok, the car is now at stage 2 so the deal is still active bit I believe the prices will be going up very soon.
