I got info from dealer today that mine is not going to be March as first thought, May or June now
Any reason given? Parts supply eg dsg?Mine was poverty spec in Red, 5 door so nothing special
I asked for more info but there is no BW just provisional date for delivery given. I rang VW CS and they said it's on system but no confirmed BW yet and that dealer would probably have more info due to any build slots they had etc. Dealer got back saying although initially March is seems May/June.
I will wait until I get some more info before properly being annoyed! It does seems others ordered around same time getting provisional build weeks so perhaps I may get something.
My gut instinct is dealer filled their March allocation and mine fell out of this...

It's been 30+ weeks lead time for a couple of weeks now. So, June would be about right....
It wasn't when I ordered, it was March - same for others. Now it is 30 weeks yes but that was from end of Oct. Can also see on RForum and here that similar Oct orders are getting BWs already. Seems I'm st outta luck on it though.

Oh, and for those who may have missed the Golf R boat, I notice there appear to be some cheap deals on BMW 135is again!
Where and who please? That's the first one I found, but looks like it could be business only.......

Thinking out loud....
If the R is c£32K for relatively poverty type spec. Then the lease costs say £7.25K and the GFV is £15K. Then the car will cost just over £22K to buy rather than £32K.... Is my man maths way out or am I sniffing tippex thinners
Dealer diso can get you a 3 Door manual for £26380.If the R is c£32K for relatively poverty type spec. Then the lease costs say £7.25K and the GFV is £15K. Then the car will cost just over £22K to buy rather than £32K.... Is my man maths way out or am I sniffing tippex thinners
Add in the lease company writing off tax/vat etc then there is some profit in there too.

That's assuming VWFS will offer the car after the lease period. Everywhere on the docs it says 'i understand i will never own or have the opportunity to own this vehicle'If the R is c£32K for relatively poverty type spec. Then the lease costs say £7.25K and the GFV is £15K. Then the car will cost just over £22K to buy rather than £32K.... Is my man maths way out or am I sniffing tippex thinners
if they do offer it afterwards, based on my experience so far, i would rip both their arms off for it.
and then MAP it!!!

Have you got a link to any deals?illmonkey said:
6k a year isn't much.
The Golf R deals were originally 5k miles a year! It all depends on your mileage, and also the excess mileage charge. On the Golf Rs it is only 6ppm+vat, which worked out cheaper to just pay the excess than get a quote for higher mileage for 10k.You'd need to ask as they brokers do not seem to publish the excess mileage charge.

Yay, you've finally got it! - i think we ordered around the same time didn't we?Yeah, I think so: I was June 20th, as above, but think it was adding a couple of options pushed my delivery back a bit.
Trying to stay run it in a bit by staying below 3500 to 4000 rpm as advised by the delivery driver but its not easy, especially on the motorway as it revs so quickly and smoothly ( well, compared to the old Subaru Forester I've been driving recently anyway ). The gearing is a bit shorter than I expected too which doesn't help...
Ride and handling seem very good even on poor surfaces; getting used to the weight of the controls which feel about right already; I like the electronic "handbrake" and stop/start which work well, even with the manual 'box.
Economy so far is low 30's which is pretty good and hope to see improve with a few more miles.
The rear camera and Discover sat nav are OK though visually not as clear as the BMW one on our X5. Think I might turn off the POI tags to tidy the screen up a bit. The traffic function is useful.
Think I'm going to enjoy driving this car (which is my first ever VW).
here's a question that's been buggin me....
I ordered a white R and ive seen some cars with black wing mirrors and some silver...when i ordered I saw no option to change these so wondered if its black or silver on the white model?

A trade mark of the R (like the audi RS models) is the wing mirrors are silver.I ordered a white R and ive seen some cars with black wing mirrors and some silver...when i ordered I saw no option to change these so wondered if its black or silver on the white model?

If there are some black ones around its because they have been painted specially.
Yours will be silver by default.

Sorry to be joining this so late - but could somebody let me know the best deals currently available for a 2 year personal lease on an R?
They are a lot more expensive unless you can somehow find one that was pre-ordered by a leasing co before end Oct. There might be one or two out there. Get onto 'RForum' to find out. Think the boat has sailed though and the deals are a lot more expensive now. Gassing Station | Audi, Seat, Skoda & VW | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
