If there are some black ones around its because they have been painted specially.
Yours will be silver by default.
My order confirmed as "not accepted yet by factory"
This was placed on 24th Oct, they said it could be further few weeks before it is.
Started to see others with similar order times get BW's already so think it confirms it wont be March allocation and is definitely April/May now.

You wont find out the true build date until probably the new year

Not sure about other comment, have seen quite a few on RForum with BWs given.
My sister ordered her car on 31st October and because the dealer is very keen to get hold of her Polo GTi for their own stock, they have changed the spec of a Golf they had already ordered for her. So her order is sitting at Stage 2.
I ordered my car on 2nd November and because I have nothing, tasty or otherwise, to offer them as a PX; my order is sitting at Stage 1.

Hopefully the sudden fall in new orders will help them concentrate more on existing orders.

I ordered mind on the 22nd and it still on step 1... Have spoken to VWCS and they are useless but are chasing to find out why the factory has not accepted the order... I ordered mine (poverty lease spec) early October and was told current lead time was Feb/ March immediately after placing my order. I've had a tracking number since 16/10/2014 and my car is still showing Stage 2 on the VW system. May/ June is no use to me - if that is the case I'll have to consider cancelling and ordering something else...
I didn't order an R because I wanted to test drive one before I committed, as coming from an R32 I thought I really wouldn't get on with it.
I spent last weekend with my cousins new R (Base car, 5 door in Lapiz Blue £260 p/month over 2 years contract hire), and gave him my r32. The R is an absolutely astonishing piece of engineering, it is such a classy car to potter around in (especially at night when everything is lit up!) yet the power delivery and how smooth the DSG is is absolutely mind boggling for a golf. It would embarrass my mk5 R32. And I never thought id say this, but I found the noise of that 4 pot very addictive! ive read a few people have disengaged that sound actuator but the novelty was well and truly alive for that weekend, I loved it. Proper giggle machine. Was nice to get back into my car and hear my VR6, my cousin said he found the noise addictive all weekend.
anyway. I have been back and forth VW Merthyr for a while discussing prices and generally being hampered by the sales man who was waiting for me, but I was waiting to drive one before I committed or even spoke to him again.
Now I have, the prices have leaped from £250 odd per month for a contract hire purchase up to £429.36 per month for the base car with 3 months deposit up front, over two years and 10k per year. Disappointed! its still worth it, but, knowing that they were being given out for so much cheaper before hand has made it far less attractive.
The sales man said given the popularity of the R the prices probably wont come back down... but surely, the reason why the popularity of the car boomed was BECAUSE of the attractive rates, surely they'll get rid of a lot less R's now?
Either way..boo. I get to hear my V6 Sing for a good while more until something else comes along!

I placed two orders early October - currently showing build weeks 5&6.You're on stage 2 so nothing to worry about, if it was still at stage 1 then I'd be asking questions re the dealers allocation.

I ordered 1st July, same spec manual and it has just updated today to stage 6, (arrived in the UK) it says it normally takes 10 days to reach the dealer so I am expecting delivery first week in Dec. 5 months in total.Edited by t955daytona on Friday 14th November 09:50

Similar to mine. I ordered mid June and the car arrived at Tyne Dock on Wednesday, it should be ready for collection by the middle of next week. It's been a long wait that's for sure, I was told 12/14 weeks when I ordered it but its closer to 20, I think anyone who ordered last month could easily see a 6 month wait.ask anyone that knows me what i am like for patience when it comes to things i want.
I have zero. i will do anything in my power, by hook or by crook to get what ever it is the fastest way possible.
until i ordered the R - for some reason i just accepted that it would be a while. Sure i refreshed the tracker 10 times a day, as soon as i woke um, the last thing i did before going to sleep but i still managed to just put it to the back of my mind.
the pace it picks up between stage 5 and 7 is really quite exciting, but the delay between stage 2 and 3 is excruciating.
So so glad i just ordered it instead of obsessing about how long it would take to arrive.
Ordered in June - delivered October 17th. Worth every single frustrating minute.
