Lease on Golf R

I think the only issue you'll have is getting a "good one".
Wouldn't expect they'd get trashed in that time, especially given the low mileage allowance on most lease deals. But you'll probably struggle to find anything that's not basic spec, because adding options really impacted the cheap-as-chips lease deals. The GFV is (was) circa £15K from memory.
I think a lot of the lease cars will have highish mileage as the cost per extra mile is only 6p on the VW finance deals. I dont plan to put many miles on my R (when it eventually arrives) but if circumstances changed I wouldnt mind putting the miles on it at only 6p per mile (over the 20K allowance).
In terms of 'thrashing' - I will be just as concerned about caring for a lease car as I would my own. I dont want to be hit with a bill when I hand it back. I might be slightly less concerned about giving it beans than were it my own though.

11ppm for me, which includes the maintenance.I think a lot of the lease cars will have highish mileage as the cost per extra mile is only 6p on the VW finance deals. Although the mileage allowance is low, I'd be more concerned with things such as high revs from cold starts, general upkeep of the car etc. That's the only thing putting me off perhaps buying one when my lease deal ends. That and I'd also want options added that I haven't specced on my lease! Options will definitely be rare (other than paint & prets), the cost to add on an option is pretty much spread out across the lease term.
I Posted a less deal last week that turned out to be crap,as it didn't include VAT, but this seems better http://www.centralukvehicleleasing.co.uk/vehicle/c...
Up front payment is a lot more than the last cheap deals, but still not bad in you want one?

anyone know when we can expect to see lease deals on the R estate? understand its launching in the Spring but don't know if thats in the UK or mainland Europe?
I called my local Peter Cooper VW dealer on Friday....he said its not due out until 2016! I also had to tell him its only available as DSG. Said he'd come back to me later in the day with some deals for trading in my R32...still waiting.
Find it incredible that a main VW dealer doesn't even know the spec details on a car that anyone with the internet can find out in 5 secs.

Years ago I went to buy my first DVD player - I asked the salesman why out of the two DVD players I was interested in was one £30 more than the others. "It's better init". So why is it better I asked., "cos it's more expensive init".
I went to another shop where they knew what they were on about.

I didn't catch his name to be honest... will let you know when he calls me back :roll eyes: Peter Cooper in Portsmouth were st a few years ago when I was looking to buy a 18 month old R32...went down there and they were completely uninterested in finding one for me, never heard back from them. Bought from Ridgeway in Newbury in the end.
I do have it serviced there to keep the FVWSH. 2 years ago I needed the Haldex & DSG service as well, so it was a big one. Service centre guy called me up on the off chance to see if I wanted to book it in since it was due. He quoted me for the 40k service plus Haldex & DSG, I knew it was cheap so booked it in. He then called me back a few hours later telling me he'd misquoted & would I mine paying another £150...I said nope. To be fair he didn't try & cancel me.
Bought my first Golf GTi many years ago thanks to a Vauxhall dealer who said to me "you cant afford that GTE". Ok I was 20 and it was 1987 and at a time when hot hatches werent generally owned by people of that age. I even turned up driving a vauxhall astra that was only 3 or 4 years old. Buying the Golf R has also been made harder by the local dealer. I recall when buying a VW was a an experience where dealers pampered you. These days they are rather lacking in my experience.

Buy a Cupra ST instead. Cars will be with dealers in March!
Or buy an old impreza - you can get one TODAY.At least you could keep the a Impreza at the end of the 2 years.
I have a test drive booked in for this weekend, does anyone know roughly what VW can offer in the way of finance?
Please excuse my naivety with this matter - I have only ever bought cars outright and never gone down the finance route - I'm still not sure I want to either.
I currently have a VW Golf R32 MKV that could be my deposit. I have previously been offered trade in of circa £10k so I would hope for a little more if buying a new car.
Realistically what could I be looking at of monthly payments on Finance against a Golf R for personal use, or am I thinking of it too simplistically.
I am sure that there are lots of people who have a Golf R on a personal lease. Is your intention to purchase it when the finance deal is over?

Usually there is no option to purchase a car at the end of a Personal lease - you'd need a PCP deal for that. IMO it is always worth comparing the different finance options - PCH, HP, PCP or personal loan - an unsecured personal loan over 5 years gives you a lot of flexibility and may work out cheaper than a PCP.Please excuse my naivety with this matter - I have only ever bought cars outright and never gone down the finance route - I'm still not sure I want to either.

my intention was to enjoy it for two years and hand it back knowing that if i had bought it i would have been another 2-4k out of pocket in depreciation.Having said that if they offer it to me and the numbers make sense ill rip their arm off for it.
