Did you all go direct? Sounds like the dealers had already filled their allocation for many months. I guess that's one of the benefits of brokers who can speak to all the dealers.
I ordered 31st October and had BW9, will be here in a couple of weeks.
There is also luck of the draw for jumping on cancelations that are already being built I ordered 31st October and had BW9, will be here in a couple of weeks.
i went direct with VW via cheltenham VW and they had a demo car on order same spec as mine so they swapped order numbers and i got the demo car - brought the delivery date forward around a month.
Happy days for me.
had it since October and have already put on over 5000 miles.
It was never leased with the intention of racking up ridiculous mileage, but business circumstances dictate that my mileage may increase by approximately 500% for the indefinite future, and the Golf will invariably end up absorbing a chunk of that.

I can get 35mpg on a run, and you can still have some fun with that too. I have been unable to get the 40.1 claimed unless 6th gear 55mph cruising without any town work either side of the motorway.
I spend 80% of my time around town on short, start stop, traffic light type driving and the other 20% on motorways.
I do not hang about and there will always be at least one WOT usage per journey. The overall also includes a brentwood to cambridge air-lifted father in-law emergency on christmas day where we did the entire journey the wrong side of the dial which KILLS economy.
for a point of reference, this car is better on fuel than both my Astra VXR and EP3 type R was, if that helps?

Test drove the car today, any idea where the current best leasing deals are? VW were looking for £360inc vat for 24mths, £1500dep with a couple of extras, 10000miles per annum. Seen much better already but just shopping around!
Thx
lose the extras, seriously, its what thumps up the price.Thx
For those of you who have received your Golf R and those waiting,
whats the thoughts on delivery as appose to collection,
my car to be delivered 160miles away in telford,
is it sensible to allow vw driver to have a 160 mile spin in my new R?
or should i take the train and see if i could get any free-bees?

mine was delivered to a dealership 117miles away i also toyed with the idea of collecting it but decided it'd be cheaper for me (fuel, train ticket etc) and at least the car's run in a bit when you get it lol.whats the thoughts on delivery as appose to collection,

Moved to stage 3 today. Build confirmed. Although it doesn't actually quote a date or week and instead says date unavailable. Assume it's bw 15.
Dealer confirmed its BW 15 and so car now wont be with the dealer until 'early May' and then whatever time it takes for them to do all the readiness stuff. 7 months :-( Well my car arrived nice and early yesterday so I spent the day playing with all the gadgets and taking it out on various roads trying it out.
Needless to say, it really is worth the 6 month wait (I know everybody says that, but it really is!)! It's an absolute pocket rocket! The way the power kicks in is just addictive. For anybody whose still waiting, hang in there and don't worry, it'll be worth the wait!
