So you will get it confirmed in 3.5 weeks time (unless the unconfirmed moves out further).
On that basis you will see the car in June.
June....That is shocking!
What did the lease co say re delivery date when you placed your order?
Which dealer are they using?
What spec did you choose?
Did you change your order at all?
I ordered through a VW dealer in Brum (28/10). They suggested April delivery albeit I naively hoped it would be sooner. But as the dealer had taken lots of orders (ie more than most other dealers it would seem) then my build is a long wait (despite my car being almost standard build ie plus 5 doors, DSG and white).
so if your car is from a dealer who has used up short term allocations, if your order has 'slow supply' parts and/or if you changed your order then these aspects will have driven the BW.

When ordered the lease co said 20-22 weeks (22 weeks is next week!) They are using Telford Inchape, bog standard spec, manual, red. Never changed the order.

I would assume then that there are a few possible scenarios :
A. Telford have order volumes that exceed allocations and that the 22 week was bull from lease co or Telford.
B. Telford or lease co failed to place the order (but if you got an order number within a week or so then this won't be the case)

I'd agree with that. It seems unlikely to me that this would have been caused by VW. The lease agent or the dealer is the source of the delay and given the shortages in allocation, the latter is probably the most likely I think.

To be fair I heard nothing on mine and within the space of a few weeks it was built, shipped and at the dealers.

I wouldnt stress.

i do love that blue. Looks cadburys purple in that photo cloud9

i just couldn't have anything that 'look at me' where i live, it'd end up either with lines of less paint down each side or i'd wake up to someone trying to drag it down to the road with a tow-rope frown

It's a gorgeous colour (when it's clean)... 100% properly gorgeous.

I've had a Polo GTI on demo/roadtest since Friday, looking forward to getting the R back this afternoon.

Dr Interceptor, how much difference in performance is the Polo to the R?

Completely different cars, with different characters. The Polo is a back to basics lightweight fun thing... in standard spec it doesn't come with climate control, cruise control, nav, or any luxuries. That though makes it an absolute hoot to chuck about. 0-60 takes around 6.8 seconds, and it sits on the motorway at 80-90 quite happily. It'll also hit a ton in 3rd gear.

The Golf R though feels a lot more grown up, and more solid. More planted on the road, and less 'skippy' than the Polo.

I'd recommend driving a Polo GTI though, great fun biggrin

The missis is due a car soon.. Fiesta ST is the only one on the shortlist so far.. maybe we should give the polo a go too?

I would... It's expensive compared to the Fiesta, but I had a current model Fiesta for 3 years, and the Polo is infinitely a better quality product.

How much did the service cost or did you add the 2 year service package?

I got confirmation of March 24th Delivery today so I retract my moan about the leasing company. I've ordered a white one, it was cheaper but I'm liking the all of the other colours now.

No idea... they haven't phoned me up to take payment yet. It's in with Peter Cooper Portsmouth, they'll look after me as I know them through the vwroc.

Don't feel too bad about it - I went for a white one too (not for price but colour preference). It looks great (when clean). I saw red and blue ones whilst I was out and about at the weekend and I still don't regret the colour choice.
