Lease on Golf R

For those also going through CUVL what's all this st about it being mandatory to neither send your original passport or driving license/counterpart via snail mail to VW directly so that they can complete the finance directly with them? That or turn up in person with original copies to be photocopied at a WV dealership in Telford?
I've never before encountered such craziness with a lease... that's kind of the whole point, and CUVL have already completed finance checks before ordering the car.
I'm flying out to the US in a few weeks so there's not a chance im sending them either my passport or driving license in the post, and there's also not a chance im taking a day off work to travel up to Telford and show them in person when copies have always sufficed before.
I agree, it's very annoying but if thats what they need, I guess there's not much that can be done about it. I sent mine guaranteed next day recorded, and they did the same so it was back within a couple of days. Can't fault their service really, just a bit annoying. My dealer said no need to send them genuine docs providing the scanned copies were of adequate quality.
I dealt with Sinclair in Swansea and just scanned everything on e-mail... Never went to the dealers and just had it delivered... No issues. They matched all of the deals for me that were widely published back in October last year so IMHO, no need to go through a middle person like CVL... AGK said:

i have just been informed my R has been sitting at dealership for the past 2 days.
I have just received my contract from the broker (apparently they require original passport and driving license to be sent special delivery) is this correct?
is it too late to add tyre cover?
would you recommend opting in for tyre cover?
what things would be good to request pre deliver?
i have read its good to ask for no dealership stickers, any thing else useful?

I understand the tyre cover isnt worth having.
Have you organised GAP insurance. This is worth doing (but not via VW).
Other people have managed to scan their passports etc and email them rather than have to send originals.

i have read on a few posts regarding 'periodic servicing' or 'service intervals'.
are you not expected to service the golf r at dealers once a year?
can someone help me out with clarification or knowledge?!
thanks
Again there are specific threads on this is how many miles you do v's cost etc - see r forum are you not expected to service the golf r at dealers once a year?

Personally I am just going with non long life and will stump up for oil service halfway through my lease.

No way I'd be sending my passport etc in the post. Special delivery, or not.
Discuss sending good scans/photocopies
I had to do it. Worked out fine - they sent it straight back by Special Delivery. I think it's possibly a stipulation by VWFS.Discuss sending good scans/photocopies
Collected the car today and thought I'd say to any of you guys who are still waiting and getting frustrated; hang in there, it's worth the wait. I'm massively glad I went for red in the end too.
Regardless of where you are based, I would highly recommend Camerons VW in Perth too. We have used them before, but after a terrible time with the dealer I bought/sold my last car from/to, Camerons have restored my faith in buying a car from a dealer.
Cheers,
Grant
