I get mine on the 5th of May. Can't bloody wait! It was a bit of a last minute decision but I bagged a cancelled order via Freedom Conracts.

I dealt with Sinclair in Swansea and just scanned everything on e-mail... Never went to the dealers and just had it delivered... No issues. They matched all of the deals for me that were widely published back in October last year so IMHO, no need to go through a middle person like CVL...

Other people have managed to scan their passports etc and email them rather than have to send originals.

No way I'd be sending my passport etc in the post. Special delivery, or not. Discuss sending good scans/photocopies
Pixelpeep7r said:
Hi-res scans requested and sent for mine, and that was direct with VWFS via inchape
AGK said:
Dealer said as long as my scanned copies were of high enough quality then they would not need the originals.

Direct with from VW dealer. No broker.
Interesting thanks chaps.

VW Inchcape will not accept copies.

This is providing rather annoying... i've never had this issue leasing a car before and there's not a chance i'm risking fking up my entire travel plans if my documents aren't returned in time.

I think the reason is that they are told by VWFS to check the original and take their own copy (so as to validate for themselves that you are who you claim to be). Per the above link maybe a 'certified copy' would suffice? It should do!

The last line on this page talks of self-attested documents (not sure of that refers to all the documents listed). Maybe point your dealer at this link...!?

Do you realise that's a list for VWFS India? I doubt it would carry much weight over here.

I've been lurking on this super thread for months now - still waiting for Mrs D's R to arrive - ordered end of October and still at stage 4 (its only a bog standard 5 door, red, manual).

Anyway, she's currently running to the end of her lease on a Merc (in my name) and i remember i had to send my passport and driving licence to them. But fair play came back really quickly in registered post.

On a seperate note (again on this thread somewhere) seems that when you get the lease contract just before car arrives the part that states the mileage allowance from VWFS is at the bottom of one of the pages - and when you print it gets cut off, so if you only read in print it looks like another clause stating 10k in total (rather than per year) takes precedence - couldnt figure out if it was an IE printing problem or printer (managed to resolve with margin settings) but watch out for that.

I dont have my paperwork yet - but my work colleague ordered one after i did and he's getting his on Friday - guess that's what happens when you ask for DSG rather than my manual!

As you can see below my order has now sped up, dealer has requested finance paperwork and so delivery is a week or two away I guess. The turbo charged speed from Stage 4 to Stage 6 inclusive has taken me by surprise.

Ordered 28/10/14
Stage 2 29/11/14
Stage 3 13/3/15
Stage 4 12/4/15 (no text or email, tracker showing stage 4 build in progress).
Stage 5a 14/4/15
Stage 5b 16/4/15
Stage 5c 19/4/15
Stage 6 21/4/15
Build Week 15.

Been following this thread with interest for some time. Spoken to a VW dealer direct today, to see if they could come close to the current deals (e.g CVL @189.99 +Vat).
Was hoping for them to match or at least come close. But they were no where near! Quoted me over £10K for 24mth, 10,000 miles with 6 month down.
Sounded like people were getting good deals previously by going direct. Any tips? Or am I best going for something like the CVL deal?

VW will be funded via VWFS. CVL will be using another funder like Arval.

Well I couldn't get VW to accept anything other than my driving license. So I relented and sent it up at the end of last week - I got my docs on the 9th and it turned up on 10th which was a tease!

However they claim it was not received so I'm tracking down signatures with Royal Mail etc, and short of it is there is no way I'm sending them any documents again, so either they have a new R that someone else can have or they can get sensible. Either way I no longer have a license to present to them! I'm really pissed off about it as I really tried to avoid this and the general perception was that I was being excessively cautious and difficult. Apparently not.

It wasn't very reassuring when the girl at VW commented "yes, we have had quite a lot of licenses going missing but as long as it is tracked it should turn up somewhere eventually..."

Seeing as my daughter is recently divorced they needed to the decree (original) showing change of name when she was taking out a lease, can't remember all the reasoning but it got lost 'in the post' anyway, never to be seen again?

Not sure I want mine any more if it's been there.

You see.... this is why i wont send up my original documents a few weeks before i fly, regardless of how perfect and safe they say their service is - because clearly it's not!

What an absolute fking nightmare and completely unnecessary. I hope you get it sorted out ASAP.

I have managed to negotiate taking my documents into a more local Inchcape dealership only 30 miles away - where somebody can scan and email them up to Telford rolleyes.

If government agencies and banks can accept post office certified copies, I see no reason why VW cant do the same

Sounds like they're being dheads for the hell of it

Just spotted this deal for the Golf R estate. Not bad considering it is a DSG. Shame there is no manual option. frown

Also very good lease deals on the SEAT Leon Cupra at the moment.
