Can anyone explain what happens at the end of a lease? Do you have the option to purchase your vehicle and if so, at what price? Is the price negociated at the start of the term of is there a pre-determined value upon signing?
No, you cannot buy it at the end of the lease. HenrysDad said:

There's a legal reason it can't be sold to the person who leased it but usually you get the option for a family member or friend to buy it Not always worth it though as the price can quite often be higher than market value at that point.
Interesting - what's the legal reason?Gazzab said:

I can't remember the exact details but it was to do with differentiating from PCP type deals etc as I think there is some different tax/vat rules for a lease. You are only "renting" the car on a lease whereas via a pcp you have to do everything against the whole value of the car? I've got a letter from BMW for my M5 and it clearly states it can only be sold to family member or friend so definitely applicable to private lease.Edited by scoobyc on Sunday 10th May 12:56

VWFS have a section on their site that lets you get a quote to purchase your vehicle 3 months prior to the end of your contract hire agreement.2 sMoKiN bArReLs said:

I ordered mine on January 11th or thereabouts. So, four months start to finish. Mine's a boggo standard order, I expect that's why it came quicker than a lot.
Stop rubbing it in Mine and my 2 brothers ordered in October were both completely standard also (well, 2 with DSG the other manual) and none have been delivered yet...
