One more question from a lease novice: Hypothetically should my leased VW have a mechanical issue do I have a nominated dealer or do I just book it in to my local VW garage?

Was that the first time you'd checked the levels?

Aha...strange then that the levels dropped over a couple of thousand?

well you don't make a note of their exact level, you just check to see if it's below max and above min right?

the oil wasn't below min either when it warned me which is cool, it must warn you when its the lower side of middle maybe?

The processing fee for the Golf R is £299+VAT but for the Golf GTD is only £199+VAT. A bit of a con really as what ever car you lease from a particular company the costs should be the same.

The processing/admin fee vary so much that a not so good deal may well be the better deal.

5k miles - so it's quite a bit more expensive than the hatchback deal.

What sort of excess mileage rate is being charged on these deals?

6.2p I believe.

Blimey, that's low and means it would be cheaper to take a contract at 5k miles/annum - and pay the excess mileage - rather than take a contract for a higher annual mileage from the outset. Slightly surprised a lease company would set it up that way but if my maths is correct the excess mileage rate would need to be around 10p before it would make sense for a high mileage driver to opt for anything other than a contract for 5k miles/annum?

Just checked paperwork. Can confirm it is 6.8ppm Inc. VAT up to 9,999 miles. Above 9,999 additional miles this rises to 9.1 ppm Inc. VAT.

I shared your logic and opted for a 5,000 mile contract on the Golf R Estate. I've always viewed lease deals through negative eyes, however this works so well for my situation, Very excited.
