I can't believe I started this thread at the beginning of Jan and it's still going ....Since then the Golf R has been crowned the best all round hot hatch by many of the leading motor journalists.

Looks like many of us have got cracking lease deals and will be very happy indeed when ours cars finally arrive.

Enjoy....

Mine should arrive at the beginning of May ;-)

I finished my cooling off last Wednesday and leaseplango said they are processing the order. Still not heard from a VW dealer, how long after the cool off were people contacted?

I don't want to keep badgering them but I'd rather have the car sooner than later. I am guessing I won't get it till September at this rate.

How long has your order being shown as "With the factory and currently being scheduled for production"?

I cooled-off on a Tuesday, had an order confirmation email from LPG's purchasing deptartment on the Friday and heard from a guy at Warrington VW on the next Monday. Sorted!

You should have to wait too long.

Cheers dinz, looks like I'm slipping a few days behind you for some reason. What date were you given to expect the car?

Hopefully I'll hear something soon.

Good luck guys. I imagine exact timing comes down to the spec, it might be dsg or prets hold things up slightly but hopefully my good news is also good for anyone else thinking they might not have a car before August (which was what they thought it might be originally in the worst case scenario).

My order went in on April 7th and was originally given BW29, so mid-July, but my order was amended last Friday due to Dynaudio being unavailable and was told it was showing as BW24 now! He did tell me that it will move around a lot before the confirmed BW is finalised.

The BW will be very spec-dependent though, I would imagine a 3-door Manual with no options would be built much quicker, might be wrong though!

I've gone for a 3 door dsg in LApis blue, no options.

I cooled off on the 8th but not heard a sausage. Hope they're not dragging it out. That's good news it's be brought forward though.

No movement on VW's site for my car as yet...getting very frustrating.

One thing I've noticed is the Golf's ability to polarise opinion - is it just me or do the assembled PH massed either seem to love or hate the 'R'? M135i drivers in particular seem quite 'anti'...

Bit of advice please. I have placed my order with G2L, sent off my paperwork and they received it today.

They mentioned they will place an order on the factory. However I have not had any mention of a cooling off period. How does that work after placing an order on leasing company?

Thanks G

Uh oh I need help. Seems I have a choice to make before 5pm on my order. I can have...

Standard Manual 3dr with metallic paint and Prets for £307.00 per month on a 6+23 10K per annum.

OR

Standard DSG 3dr with metallic paint for £328.00 per month on a 6+23 12K per annum.

Both fully maintained from G2L BTW.

I am worried I will go over my 10K a bit so would love the extra 2K miles BUT do I want DSG or the larger different wheels??

HELP!

If I had the choice, I would go DSG on 10k.

Neither for me to be honest, but if I HAD to pick, probably DSG - though depends slightly on usage. 19s look better, but I want the most compliant ride, and in the same vein I'd say that DSG gives the car an extra dimension if you think you'll do a lot of town work.

You don't need bigger wheels let's be honest. I'd go for DCC (and I did) if anything otherwise save your cash. Unless you really want dsg I think you'll be very happy with a manual. All of the reviews suggest it's a great box and the economy gains of dsg are negligible. No one uses launch control in the real world do they?

That would be, and was, my choice. Might leave a tiny bit in the budget for something else too?
