Yeah it's tricky - from what I hear the original financial backers got cold feet when they realised that 500 or so Golf Rs would be landing back with them in 2 years time, so pulled their backing.
I can't see the original sub-£300 deals returning, unfortunately. I just got a quote for around £345 6+23 deal on a base 3dr with metallic paint (not through G2L - they don't seem to even have the R on their website anymore, even though they'd probably do a quote).
Again wasn't after a super spec - though originally wanted Prets and DCC, maybe sunroof.

So that might be that for the Golf R for me - any other interesting metal about on a good lease deal?!

Phone G2L and tell them what kind of car you're after.

They put me onto the Golf R when I narrowly missed out on the 135i lease deals - quite glad I missed it now

Out of interest, i was late'ish to the party with my order by (order placed 20/03/14) for 5dr metallic manual 15K pa on a 6x23...and i'm gonna be paying £349... it was the mileage that put mine up - does this sound like a good deal of have i been had lol?

If you are happy with it, then its a good deal.

There are people paying a lot more for a lot less, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Finalllllllyyyyyyy Got a call from Chesterfield VW. Build week 21 confirmed, She said that i should be expecting the car end of June. I was originally told end of July. Just in time for summer, I might have to go to work in the mrs ford ka to save my mileage for special occasions ha...

I'll wait and see. I don't need a car now at all. So it's purely for the shopping, occasional weekend away. Seemed a bit daft to pay for the car. I know that I would find an excuse to go for a drive, but it would be a waste when it sits there 6 days a week.

I'm awaiting a reply from one company, but the quotes im getting are close to 300. Not specced like some people have, but I just want Keyless and a few little goodies, I'll be happy with DSG or manual, may just have to bite the bullet.

Same as you today mate, got the call from carol at Chesterfield. It seems our cars will be sisters lol.

Think I got it for £280, 6x23, 10k, dsg 3door and lapis blue.

Ordered on 9th April.

Seems it's going to be slightly earlier than expected. I'm thinking of collecting it rather than have it delivered, don't want the delivery driver thrashing it to mine lol.

Do you have to pay the +6 upfront or is it once you have your vehicle?

Was told it would be a week or two AFTER I have taken delivery which will be weird. No money exchanged until then. Think the deposit was £1700

I was also told a week or two after taking delivery the deposit would be taken, however to be careful as the first payment would come out shortly after.

I have never been so excited, it maybe due to the wait, i normally go for used cars so never been through this wait before ha. Got a lovely 52 plate megane getting me through the next few weeks though so won't be used to the power when it arrives.

Carol is the same person i have been dealing with too. What is the score with delivery, i assumed it would come on a transporter, with them not really wanting the extra milaege on, especially been in Hartlepool, quite a distance.

Oh and i placed the order on 11th March but 17th was after cooling off etc.

As far as I'm aware cars always come on a low loader..! I'm hoping I can get something for 300ish with a few little toys, not bothered about much more than the raw car, I want the full on experience, has DSG in 4 cars now time for a manual! all I want is keyless so handy!

Don't be so sure, ask some of the big lease companies like G2L still can get fairly good prices unless you want a HUGE spec!

This may be because they only have 'saved' quotes remaining, for specific sets of options on the cars at anything near to being a 'Reasonable' quote price. To re-spec they can't do for one of two options - the finance companies behind the deals have pulled the plug on the deals, or it would be too expensive a quote. I myself had to use a 'saved' quote. That's my uneducated/rudimentary understanding!
