Can't say I'm impressed with Lease Plan Go. Two orders placed at an almost identical time but passed by them to different VW dealers to actually order. Build weeks and estimated delivery slots are 8-9 weeks apart. Both standard cars with premium paint. Go figure!!

Down to allocation at the supplying dealer

Had my dealer and order number confirmed 2 weeks ago, but VW order tracker is still showing as 'with factory being scheduled for production' - is this normal? Everyone else seems to know their build week, and the dealership have confirmed to me that it's expected in July - but is this just them hoping, or will the VW factory have confirmed this to them?

The dealer will be able to see what week the car is planned to be built in...

Where did you all get your reference/order number for tracking the build? I ordered through LPG and had my order confirmed through the supplying dealer but have not been given any reference number to track the car. I am fairly relaxed - the car will be here when it gets here - but I wouldn't mind tracking its build as it all leads to the excitement of the new toy arriving!

The supplying dealer can give you 'the code' - 8 digit number starting '24' IIRC.

I got mine from the supplying dealer when he rang me to confirm the order, I didn't even have to ask for it!

This is a dealer issue - some have specific numbers of allocated build slots and others have to request a tranche of slots once they have orders to fill them.

My order was placed with VW Newbury on April 4th and when I spoke to them I was told a provisional build date of week 21 but on Friday when I rung to ask why the order tracker wasn't showing a confirmed build week yet was told its now week 28!! I said I wasn't impressed as I have a very basic spec and have seen others of a similar nature having confirmed build dates that ordered after me but who seem to be with VW Warrington.

I intend to speak with Leaseplan about the process as surely their should be some control over the furnishing of the order in a reasonable timescale by the chosen dealer?

Not true. Every dealer has an allocation that is directly proportional to their targets. If they have filled their allocation, then the order goes onto a wait list. It is released from the wait list if another dealer has not filled their allocation, then this order would fill the gap.
If every dealer fills their allocation it sits on the wait list until their is a space...

Hi Carl, thanks may give mine a call!

But like TNJ said, I suppose it gets here when it gets here. Little bit concerning that some orders are being put back though!

Are you all getting GAP insurance? As far as I can see most, if not all of us will only need fully comp & GAP (GAP to cover the finance agreement) - of course you can choose not to get GAP and be stuck with a bill for ££££'s, in the event of the unspeakable happening!!

Tripticon - I will definitely get the GAP insurance. For the sake of a couple of hundred quid, it is a no brainer for me.

Hi guys, any reccomendations for GAP cover? Also what would you ask to be covered, or is it a standard amount?

I've got mine coming next month so it's time to start insurance quotes and getting GAP sorted out.

I will probably use Directgap - £99 for £10k of cover for 24 months. However, any FCA authorised broker/insurance co should be fine.

At such a cheap price there is no point taking a risk.

From what I can understand (depending on your individual contracts) it is only the finance payments we would need to be concerned about, not any difference between what your fully-comp insurer pays out and what the finance company originally paid for the vehicle.

I did find a thread last week which discusses GAP for Golf R. They mention 'ala'' as GAP providers. vwrforum --> golfforum website. Don't know if I'm allowed to post the link in here ?

So, I'm new to this, you get GAP on top of your full comp? if it's only 100 quid, well that's a huge no brainer!

Cheers for the heads up.

That is BW22. Was originally unconfirmed for BW26. I'm aware of a lot of people that ordered after me but have an earlier BW, guess the delay is down to dealer allocation, or perhaps spec (mine is manual with paint & prets as the only options).

Hopefully yours will update this week or next!
