I ordered one yesterday - A6 Avant 2.0 TDI Ultra Black Edition S Tronic. I went for Daytona Grey, alcantara/pearl leather and 20" twin spoke alloys (in lieu of the standard 20" titanium look 5 spokes). I have a build slot which means that I will get the car at the end of March. I went for 3+35 PCH, which worked out cheaper than the PCP.

If I get low to mid 50's on my 50 miles Motorway/fast A road commute I will be happy!

You can't (and never have been able to) get an Ultra with Quattro.

Your story doesn't add up.
Hold the phone, here come the forum police.

Mine was just a lowly Black, not the ultra. Doesn't stop me disliking it though.

Would you like a copy of the V5?

Good choice! I was very close to swapping the alloys on mine to those, but decided I wanted the ease of cleaning that the rotors give me as standard :-)).

Love the stripes in the boot carpet!

It makes the detailer happy, he always used to moan the carpet I had in the Merc C Class before was too thin and cheap to get a stripe in it.

It was the tyre/road noise that we couldn't live with, combined with a few niggles the dealer could not sort out. Our 5 Series has the M-sport suspension deleted so that helps with the ride quality.

The Ultra could do 750 miles on a full tank which is an impressive motorway range.

Care to share the deal you had? Was it with Audi?

Do you know what tyres it had on it?

I had a BMW f31 3 series touring, and borrowed a 325d for a few days, and it was much quieter and rode much better than my car. It had identical tyre sizes and wheels on it, same suspension, only difference was the tyre brand. Tyre pressures also make a huge difference. My car is riding horribly at the moment as I've not taken the air out from having the roof box on it earlier this month (must do it today!) but with the roof box on it was fine.

My last Audi was a sline A4 (b7) and that rode like a pig, this is so much better.

Apologies, don't want to hijack the thread, but what tyres did you have on your F31? And what were on the 325D?

Thanks.

Bridgestone Potenzas on the 325d to the Pirelli Cinturato on the 320d. Bridgestones by consensus on some forums are the better tyres, certainly my experience. All were run flats.

Our A6 Ultra had Bridgstones. My BiL has an Ultra on Goodyears and I suspect they car quieter and ride better.

The deal was with an Audi Main dealer introduced via the Carwow website. I am paying £1392 up front and £464/month over 36 month term, so 3+35 on a PCH including VAT. Mileage is 15000 pa and xs is 6p + VAT. Its actually cheaper to pay xs miles at the end than pay via the contract. I think it's a good deal.

I was told on Tuesday that the dealer had secured a week 10 build slot, therefore i should have the A6 by end of March.

Really good to hear of 750 mile range from one tank of diesel!

12'000 miles and the second time I've filled up with Ad Blue. I'm now punting the car about a bit more and economy has dropped to around 38 MPG. Still hits mid 50's on a MW run with cruise set at 80, in france..... Still pleased with the car, yes this level of road and wind noise would never have made it in to a Jag but other than that it really copes well with the 400 or so miles I have to do in a day every week. The DSG box has been caught out a few times but then using the paddles sorts out the gears whilst the computer decides what to do.

we've had a 177 Black avant for 3 weeks now. its a great do everything car, although the boot smaller than expected. the 10mm extra drop of the sport suspension on the S-line is worth it, and the ride isn't too bad.
options we had heated seats, rear blinds, tow bar, pano roof.
roof is nice, heated seats a must and the tow bar clever.

the standard satnav and Bose is good, with music from all sources SD/SD2 or Iphone, Bluetooth streaming etc very easy to use.

engine is fine for plodding around, but is all low down, i think it would work well with a ZF 8spd, but couldn't bring my self to spec an elastic band CVT!

A short end of term report on the car, after 3.5 yrs and 71,000 miles:

Good:
Looks great on 20s
Pan roof nice
Bose Hifi very good, better than BMW HK, when working

Wish i'd know:
it doesn't have self levelling rear suspension meaning the front struggles for grip when 4 up or a couple of big dogs in the boot
the emissions update reduced mpg by 1-2 mpg (total average c43 mpg)

The bad:
possibly the most unreliable car i've ever owned, good jobs most things were under warranty
needed a wheel bearing after 20k miles
had 4-5 Bose speakers replaced due to them blowing
electronic park break failed
needed a clutch and duel mass flywheel every 20k miles (a colleague has had a similar experience) - DMF is only available from Audi for £1800

replaced with an end of run 535d

Electronic park brake was a nightmare, replaced twice under warranty together with the engine start button, sold mine at 30 months old, 67,000 miles.
