Just become available on carwow. Looks ace with S-tronic and 190ps for same price as current multi 170ps.

Anyone know anything about them?!

I've been doing some more digging and it looks like this is the replacement for the 177 multitronic but I can't find detailed info anywhere. Dealers seem to be in the dark too other than saying details should be announced soon.

Does anyone have any info on whether there are any other changes cosmetically or is it just engine/gearbox?

Yeah the Ultra is a new low CO2 version of the 2.0 TDI, should be the engine of choice for many.

Has anyone seen a review anywhere yet? Guessing it must be close to the first cars arriving in the uk now.

Just ordered a loaded Ultra SE Avant, Pan roof, walnut, etc. Really couldn't be doing with 20" rims on the roads round here, no not the Perthshire but Surrey! Tried in vane to find a actual road test but couldn't. Think its the first car, in 20 years that I've bought that I've never test driven in the engine and gearbox config.. Got a cracking deal, not from main dealer though... actually ended up nearly £100 less a month then a Skoda Superb Estate! Looking forward to it, should be here mid May..

I think the ultra will just be the smaller engined, front wheel drive models. Could be wrong but that's what the dealer seemed to think.

Shame, if you could get the 2.0 ultra or 3.0 mated to a manual Quattro I'd be there like a shot.

I think you are getting a bit confused. The 'Ultra' isnt a top spec all options ticked model, it is intended for company car drivers who want low co2 and therefore low BIK.

The "Ultra" engine (190ps 2.0 tdi) is availble on the SE, S Line and Black Editions

I get that, but I want a lower emissions quattro, I understand it would be a bit less efficient than FWD but it would be better than the standard 2.0TDI

If they've produced a 2.0 TDI with more power and lower emissions then presumably they can apply the same technology to the 3.0TDI and drop it a tax band or two with a bit of extra shove.

And I hate auto boxes, so the ultra engine attached to a manual quattro would be perfect for me.

Manual in these sort of cars is resale suicide as it isn't at all desirable, particularly with the bigger engines and higher spec.

But again, that's no good for company car drives, who let's be honest are the most likely customers. Majority all they want is small engine, low emission and low BIK and then ones who have a bit bigger company car allowance go for the black edition.

I went for one as a private buyer simply because it's bloody impossible to get a petrol engine in a car big enough for my needs within budget. Bit ridiculous given the limited mileage I do, but it was the best option I found.

One thing I was curious about was that the Ultra version has a fixed 73 litre fuel tank. Going from 65 to a 75 litre tanks are options on non Ultra models.

I think the reason that there's a fixed 73 litre is to accomodate the Urea liquid injection, and it's mechanism, into the exhaust gases. So, Audi have reserved the 2 litre volume in the fuel tank area for this.

In addition, I expect the vehicle will be on a fixed service schedule. I'm using the Mercedes-Benz Bluetec as a tempalte. The process allows the car to start 20 times by a warning indication, when the system detects the urea reservoir is nearly empty and exceeding this causes the car to not start. It's likely we will have to have to take the vehicle in every 9000 miles to get the urea refilled. Apparently, it's around £30.00 for the consumable, which is pretty good.

I would love to hear what people think about this new eco-audi. Deliveries are supposed to start end March/early April.

I'm replacing a 2011 (previous model) 2.0 TDI Avant S-Line special edition with an Ultra Avant, S-Line

Going for Daytona Grey, with the only added options of heated seats, music interface, and a heated steering wheel for cold Scottish mornings biggrin

Wife needs an automatic now due to problems with leg, so the Ultra with S-Tronic will suit her down to the ground

Build week 18 is scheduled, so we're expecting it in mid to late May

we've had a 177 Black avant for 3 weeks now. its a great do everything car, although the boot smaller than expected. the 10mm extra drop of the sport suspension on the S-line is worth it, and the ride isn't too bad.
options we had heated seats, rear blinds, tow bar, pano roof.
roof is nice, heated seats a must and the tow bar clever.

the standard satnav and Bose is good, with music from all sources SD/SD2 or Iphone, Bluetooth streaming etc very easy to use.

engine is fine for plodding around, but is all low down, i think it would work well with a ZF 8spd, but couldn't bring my self to spec an elastic band CVT!

According to the Audi magazine that has just arrived the A6 ultra will be available with a six speed manual in the near future. I'll be waiting for that.

What's this about urea? Where can I read about that?
