thinking about remaping the S4 and wonder who to go with? So far I can see that only couple of tuners do them in UK (there's some US ones as well..)
- MRC
- REVO
- APR

Wouldn't mind switchable and want to go for one that's got good BHP output but has also good reputation - any suggestions?

If you want the ability to switch easily Revo is the only option.

If you want to go silly quick it has to be MRC - near as dammit 500BHP on offer now.

APR does switching using steering wheel stalks somehow.
I know MRC are generally giving highest output but I am worried about reliability and they dont offer switching technology.

Is MRC really that better than APR or Revo?

MRC have an amazing reputation. As soon as I get a B8 they are the first people I'm going to call.

APS are also very good. Although I don't know much about their tuning packages, I used them for servicing for many years and they were excellent.

I've done about 12,000 miles on my stage 1 MRC remap and no issues at all, apart from lots of smiling !

APS in Brackley do the Stasis packages from the States, although it's not listed on their site for some reason

The stage 1 tunes aren't nuts so I wouldn't be worried about it being switchable - I doubt you'd use it more than once just to try it - so any of the reputable tuners should be fine

Does anyone know of MRC dealer in Scotland or would I need to drive down? To be honest I may go for APR when they have their sale and have it done locally...

I've heard good thing about these guys in the past:

http://www.starperformance.co.uk/

They might be closer if you don't want to drive to MRC.

Stasis = Revo, now. Or 'Revo Stasis' technically.

Good point - had forgotten that! Only remembered Stasis after dribbling over Paul's lovely sprint blue saloon with the full Stasis Challenge conversion at vast expense!

I recently got a stage 2 MRC setup on my B8 S4 STronic and I am very happy with the results of over 480bhp but still as smooth as ever and no worse on fuel under normal driving, travelled from Glasgow to get it done.

Did you get a chance to see what power yours was running before the tune? I'm sure the improvement was noticeable driving

I have seriously considered all three and would love the switchable functionality etc, but couldn't bring myslef to have anyone but MRC do it if I were to pull the trigger.

Im in the same boat as you. Long old drive down from Scotland and I would really like the switchable remap and DSG tune.

I can't remember if STAR do APR or GIAC but I don't think the power is anywhere near as high as MRC.

MRC is an independent tuner rather than a 'supplier' like Revo, APR etc.

APR do offer a pulley kit for the B8 but I don't think they offer gearbox software.

bumping my old topic back to top.

superchips now released V6T remap which certainly looks quite attractive financially.

Does anyone have any experience of this remap on S4 or other?

Wouldn't bother superchips are not in the same league as other tuners mentioned in this thread.

They tend to offer easy options (easy flashing) but lower power.

Hello !

I just did MRC stage 2 as well on my S5 V6T, and I find my oil temperature to be quite high.. I was wondering if someone could compare it with me.. just to see if it's normal or too high.

It's around 100-104 in normal city driving, on the highway at a sustained 160kmh it goes up to 115-120, and on the track after a few laps it goes as high as 125. It goes back down quick.

I am talking about oil, not coolant, the coolant temperature stays at 90.

Thanks for your help.
