Cheers guys, I'm loving it.

I was intending to keep the mileage right down, but I'm just having too much fun.

Any excuse for a drive really.

Nonsense, drive the thing and enjoy it as often as you can. That's what it's for smile

Welcome to the B7 RS4 Avant owners club! I've had mine for almost 9mths now and still puts a smile on my face every time I press "S", the valves on the Millies open up, and I press "Start".... biggrin

You totally made the right call OP.
Anyone can go quickly in a straight line, as soon as the road gets interesting the difference between an RS4 and an A4 with a big engine is just massive.

Now, take it to your local exhaust fabricator and ask them to chop out the middle box and replace it with an x pipe. Bliss =)

The RS did a fantastic job this weekend, transporting 4 of us plus camping gear, to a wedding, as well as doing sterling service as a bed.

The squeals of excitement (or possibly panic) from the girls in the back seats when I first gave it a boot full were a wonderful reminder of why these cars are quite so bloody good!

I think you've made the right decision:

I can’t imagine you seeing an S4 on the road and pining for it, and regretting your choice.

If, however, had you bought an S4, and then seen an RS4 swagger by...

Perhaps you were (I wasn't there of course smile ) but "pining"? Are you sure?

I'm sure you may have been thinking the S4 might have been the more appropriate car for whatever circumstance you were in at the time (i.e. rational thought) but I'd be surprised if the emotive thought was towards an S4 over an R8.

Could be just me, but I'm always pining for the car I haven't got. Doesn't matter if it's a camper van when I own a 911 or a Vantage when I own a Mini. It's pretty much a hobby for me... owning & driving as many nice cars as I can... just one at a time.

ETA... costs me a bloody fortune mind, but it's only money (well that's what I keep telling myself). New Alpina looking good wink
