I have a few simple issues to fix on the Audi I just bought.

Its a manual soft top - but I have a flashing red light for the roof on the dash.

Central locking not working.

Can't open boot most of the time, but sometimes does.

Central locking iffy.

I see a plethora of Audi forums, is there one in particular that's best for searching for common faults, diagnosis etc?

Plus, is there an equivalent to the realoem website for BMW's?

Thanks Audi-ists!

Hi huntsman,

Great motors these. These are the best Audi sites for help and advice. All the lads on there are so helpful and a huge amount of advice available. A great many of them are my customers too.

These sorts of problems with Cabs are usually down to the effects of dampness and lack of use. The flashing light can be a sticky sensor.

Thanks Jith.

I did a bit of googling last night and I suspect there's broken wires in the loom where is passes into the boot lid.

Seems a nice car, 132k miles, but a bit of a wander about on the motorway, suspect lots of tired bushes.

Check if it's had the waterpump replaced, I think mine went around that mileage and it was normal I think. Good time to replace the cambelt if it hasn't been done too. It was years ago but I made up a simple fixture to lock the cams. I remember the metal fuel lines rotted under the car too. Lovely car and felt really solid.

Thanks, yes, 2k miles back the water pump and the belts done, cost the chap more than I paid for the car.

as above for helpful places.
Also add this;
http://www.12v.org/

You can have faults read on this to confirm.

The central locking pump likely to have failed, they are an integrated unit so include relays and such as well. Mine was on the drviers side in the boot in my 90, which had a rear bulkhead, so in the cabby it might be either in the boot or behind the rear seats. It is aa vacuum system so the pump can fail. You will see the buttons will make an effort at opening but may not make it all the way, sometimes intermittant is a sure sign. So replaced the unit in the back, and problem solved!

I have a '96 plate of the same for last 4 years, electric roof, 10 spok Speedlines, Cream Leather, totally original...
Used as a Second Car, wife doesn't drive...
Same niggly problems mainly from lack of use as i only done 8000 miles in 4 years...
Kept it maintained in my ownership and spent £500 last year on suspension bits and poly bushes got it running perfect, MOT'ed and Taxed 2 months ago ready for Summer then a week later the Roof packs up...
You can open it slightly by hand and close it Electrically but cannot open it Electrically...
The Roof button on centre console opens all 4windows ready for the Roof but the Roof doesn't fold back...
Can't be arsed with it anymore, just drive around with Roof down haha, unless anyone knows an easy fix...???
