A family friend has a bay window crew-cab, I don't know exactly what it is I'll post a pic when I get chance. He wants an alarm and central locking so what is the best way to do this? He doesn't mind spending out for good kit but I will be installing it. It currently has no alarm and no central locking. It's under going a TDI engine swap and it will be immaculate so it has to be hard to pinch!

Well its not quite as old as I thought but I still need to put an alarm on it, so a bump with pictures. Any ideas?

I'd have a look at Maplin, central locking kit and alarm. And if the alarm hasn't got a remote, Quasar two channel remote kit. Only two things with the Quasar- I'd look at removing supply when ignition is switched on as it might not like voltage spikes ( simple relay control on ignition controlled fuse) and the supply range of the kit. Older ones did not cover full car voltage range, though I think the latest from Quasar ( quasarelectronics.co.uk) are 12-15v. Two channel- one lock, one unlock. Maplin central kit uses a negative pulse to lock /unlock .

presumably he wants something that is Cat1 certified in order to immobilise the vehicle to.

I've had a few cars with Toad AI606 alarm/immobiliser which costs around 200 fitted with a certificate. It's just a simple key fob with on/off or on without the ultra sonics if you have want to leave the sunroof/windows down. It has universal remote central locking facility to and the sensitivity can be adjusted.

I hate Cliffords having removed several from various cars after they developed a mind of their own. Typical symptoms were one day it would be so sensitive that if a bird sts in another county it would go off, other days you could rock the car side to side without triggering it.

Cheers guys I'll look into both. I think he just wants something basic enough that if someone breaks into it then it will make a racket, I need to sit him down and get exactly what he wants on paper! I have fitted a few central locking kits with the actuators on cars with no central locking previously. If I can find something like that with an alarm that would be perfect, immobiliser would be a bonus too.
