Audi S4 B8 500 BHP - remap group buy

I thought MRC offered a 'custom' map for stage 1 and 2. If stage 1 is just a generic map applied with no tweaking why pay 50% more than other tuners for much the same thing ? I thought stage 1 was still adjusted to get the best out of the stock car, or am I wrong ?
Stage 2 is in conjunction with a smaller SC pulley allowing it to spin faster making more power. liffy99 said:
Yes, I know that. I'm not interested in a stage 2. But I thought MRC still customised a stage 1 map on an otherwise standard car to get the best result. If they are simply loading a generic map then why so much more expensive than other tuning outfits (with decent reputations) ?
ah sorry read wrong. I'll be looking for a Stage 1 map in a few months as well (I understand the B8.5 stage 1 makes almost the same as the stage 2), so far I've been quoted... £999 exVAT (!) for REVO (-20% sale)
and £959 incVAT for APR (sale price), although one dealer quoted me £700.
so MRC @ £750 incVAT was looking quite reasonable :0/

If you can get companies remapping for 350 or 500 quid then would be interested to see if you get it and can post up the results for others as its a load cheaper than all the other respected tuners.
Im surpassed to hear it so cheap and that the smaller companies have managed to crack the ecus
What power do they offer?

But no rolling road at 500. Unicorn were just saying at least 400bhp for stage 1 but don't push the envelope too far (keep EGTs under control etc.) I had driven up to Unicorn for the stage 1 (400 mile round trip) only to find that their ecu reader had developed a fault. Very nice bloke (Rick) but unsure whether to risk wasting another trip up. Waiting to see if the kit has come back from Italy.
That's why I was wondering about MRC. There have been some cars that have achieved over 450bhp on a stage 1 but I think MRC suggest about an additional 75bhp (whatever that takes you to I presume depends where you start). Not too worried tbh about absolute power, just to remove Audi's restrictions etc.
Did you find out whether a stage 1 is in the group buy ?

I read somewhere Rick does have access to a rolling road though. That's why I was wondering about MRC. The deal I posted was the deal that I had agreed with them as it based on a package. To get that price, two people need to go on the same day getting the same thing as it takes 4 hours roughly to do a stage2, so they know what they are doing for that day.
Stage1 obviously takes a chunk less time. You can wing it if you want with them and ask. It was 15% discount we were getting for two people at a time on the stage2 and 50% discount on the gearbox (you need stage2 for that)

Nice one Pirate thanks for the reply. Has any one just had the stage 1? Part of mine (the cheapskate) wants to try the stage 1 and dsg map first. Then when i go stage 2 (shortly after im sire) i will feel the improvement. Is stage 1 enough though? Its the boost bleed after 5 grand that fks me off. If anyone can give any feedback on MRCs stage 1 id love you a bit.
