Bargain A4 cabriolet
Discussion
I couple of weeks ago I saw a 2003 A4 Cabriolet (1.8t) for sale locally with an asking price of £2k or €2.5k (I live in Cyprus) and in the advert it said "needs work hence price".
The seller was a school teacher here leaving to go back to a new job in the uk.
I went for a look and the problem turned out to be the roof didn't go down and she didn't have the time or money to get it repaired. So, I took a punt and bought it. She said she had someone with mechanical knowledge look look at it but they couldn't figure it out. I took it home and had a bit of a look at it. It turned out to be a strap from the acoustic hood caught in the mechanism preventing it from folding!
Strap removed, works perfectly now
Mechanically it's in very good order, only covered 55k miles, recent belts and water pump etc.
The paint on the bonnet is a bit dull due to years of Cyprus sunshine but that's something I can get corrected hopefully.
Chuffed to bits with it, I wasn't looking for another car but I will do a few bits to it and maybe sell it on. There are a few cabriolets for sale here of the same age and advertised between 7 and 8k
Used cars out here seem expensive

The acoustic roof was only introduced in the B7 so yours doesnt have one, sorry to piss on your fireworks. Nice car though and a veritable bargain
Hey no worries mate, I just presumed I had it fitted as it's so so quiet inside. There is no more road noise than in my passat and I can't tell I'm in a cabriolet with the hood up! The acoustic hood on the B7 must be uber silent then Gassing Station | Audi, Seat, Skoda & VW | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
