A1 Blacklined 2.0 TDI
Discussion
We've had a couple of petrol A1s in the family, first was a 2012 and current one a 2014. Only problems have been minor interior rattles but on the whole they seem very reliable. The new car has the Black Styling pack, Contrast Roof and privacy glass so really looks the part from the outside.
The 2.0 TDI isn't all that common as I think people find it slightly nose heavy for a car this size. Its probably worth also looking at the new cylinder on demand 1.4 TFSI (COD) as that would offer you slightly better performance and similar economy/ co2 figures at a lower price.

I like our A1 as a car, but our 1.6TDi engine has been plagued with problems. Turbo cut power on the motorway, lost loads of coolant (faulty waterpump) then lost loads of coolant again, suspected ECR cooler leak but Audi won't look at it as they are not sure that's what it is and it's a big job... I think we have been unlucky as the 1.6tdi is generally quite reliable I believe.
We had one for 12 mnths from new. My wife liked it (her car) but it was eventually too small so have now swapped it for an S4 avant. My honest opinion is that the engine really didn't suit the car, it was very nose heavy and under steered because of this. It also rode terribly on 18" alloys. If I had test driven one before ordering I would of chose a petrol version. The 1.4 COD was not available when we ordered but it is now and I'm sure that would be a much nicer drive. Also economy was only around 50 mpg which isn't that great considering was the petrol ones return. Overall a great place to sit in but just not with that engine combination.
thanks all and apologise for the delay, I was on holiday last week.
If all goes well the A1 would be the company car so not worried about size, only had a 2.0TDI before and loved the torque but, as it has been said, it was to nose end heavy and ended up keeping it for only 6 months.
Figures on the 1.6 do look ok, not sure if the engine would delivery enough power.
