We just picked up a cheap 2005 Polo 1.2S 12V 3dr in olympic blue 1 owner from new with loads of history and bills to back it up.The interior is like new. There are a couple of scuffs on the bodywork but nothing serious.Never driven the 1.2 three cylinder before but im really quite impressed with it.I was following my wife in our A3 2.0TDi sport and admittedly I had to give it some revs and maintain speed in the corners but it was bloody good fun keeping up with her.The thing is this little car has done 140,000mls and still feels tight.Very impressive and the little three pot sounds good too.

We were told not to get the 1.2 as it couldnt pull the skin off a rice pudding but its not bad at all in my opinion.Maybe they were referring to the 6V version ?

Great story bro, just thought I would share.

I've just got myself a 1.2 6v as a runaround, it's great fun to drive, the little engine feels so willing! Joining motorways can be fun though!

Made sprightly by being geared low - motorways/dual carriageways become noisy.

Also think these suffer from cam-chain stretch problems the same as the V6s at higher mileages - just a heads up.

The thing I noticed is I was revving to 4 or 5k and you just couldnt feel it,suprisingly smooth.Another reason I went for it is because the tensioner problems were on 2002/03 cars.VW fitted a beefier tensioner after that.Im also guessing the later cars are geared diffently as at 60mph it was perfectly relaxed.I got the impression that 70 or 80mph would feel similar.

Maybe 140k is not regarded as overly high but im still amazed by the quietness and smoothness of the drive and the solid feel of this little car.Having said 'little car' it feels like a golf size wise in comparison to my old 16v polo.

I've have a 1.2 12V polo as my run around for the past 7 years and i still absolutly love driving it! As long as you do't mind revving the t!ts off it, they really aren't that slow.

Yours looks brilliant lowered with the alloys painted black. Is it 55 or 65bhp ?
Just think the triple has more character and sounds better than the 4 cylinder.
