If anyone sees a Lapiz blue Golf R - reg RF14 NZG around South London/Kent - please call the police. Stolen this afternoon - my wife got home to find the front door of the house kicked in and the car gone.

Having waited 3.5 months for it to arrive, bit gutting that it is gone in only 6 weeks. Just glad I went for GAP insurance so at least the lease company will be paid off. Still going to be out of pocket though after paying insurance, GAP premium and the upfront payment to the lease company.

can you message me your location? And if you have any pictures, or anything distinctive about yours?

The Golf R has become the new car to steal and we've been looking for a black one for a while, but it turns up, does a job and then fks off quickly.

Got your message, I'll do some research tomorrow morning, can't make any promises though, but we'll keep looking for it.
They'll probably use it to commit other crime in, so you probably won't want it back

Yes, glad my wife and kids were not there. They obviously were only interested in the Golf - left the keys to our other car where they were.

Just have to try and look on the bright side - I get all the fun of choosing a new car again! Pity I won't have a chance of getting a deal anywhere near as good as the Golf though.

Thanks for trying - as you say, I may not want it back but if there is a way to get them and stop it happening to someone else, then so much the better.

Sorry to hear that. Glad nobody was at home, but then these scum don't generally want confrontation.

But GAP insurance shouldn't even be required in the first 12 - 24 months depending on your insurance company. Providing the lease was not pre-registered, your insurance company should offer to replace the car regardless.

A Tracker should be compulsory on a car like that. Once it leaves these shores, you'll never see it again.

Damn!! Sorry to hear that especially as mine is the same colour and DSG - being selfish I hope its a South London crew that are at it and they stay that side of the water!

That also reminds me that I need to sort the GAP insurance out - most insurance companies that offer replacement in the first 12 months won't honour this on a leased car as the owner/registered keeper is not the insured party and that's the condition in the policy.

Looks like all should be sorted with the insurance fairly quickly - they are in touch directly with the lease company.

Will not be a replacement offered as far as I am aware so I basically lose the deposit (3 months upfront) and excess. I am glad now that I only went for 3 months up front with a slightly higher monthly payment rather than 6 months.

Deciding on a replacement is going to be difficult as all the good deals on the R have gone and I don't think I would be happy taking a new deal and knowing I am paying more every month for the same car. Plus I don't want to wait another four months!

My Lotus has a tracker. It costs £127 per year subscription, but insurance discount for having it is nil!

Clearly insurers cant be too worried about getting cars back

sorry to hear

on this, i don't understand why people would choose an eye catching stolen car to do crime in?

A friend had their brand new Golf GTD nicked in a similar way up near Oldham last week, but scarily they were at home with their young family when their front door was kicked in. They were threatened face to face - luckily the kids were in bed asleep so didn't enjoy the full experience of men in balaclavas threatening to kill their mummy and daddy if they didn't hand over the keys.

As above sorry to hear but would have to say is the Golf R an eye catching car? I would describe it as a stealth car, most non petrol heads would assume it is a GTI which would probably make it an ideal car for scrotes wanting to break the law while driving something they can get away in quickly.
OP hope you either get it back unmolested and quickly or get something as enjoyable as a replacement.

Feel for you OP. I just got back from holiday and immediately went out to check but thankfully mine is still there. Testament to 3 months grime and street parking to make it difficult to track the owner...seems like the safest place to park given these sorts of stories frown

Sorry to hear that OP frown Glad the insurance is proving straight forward.

I had two lads getting very intimate with my Golf R a few days ago while it was parked outside work in Farnborough. Hope they didn't suss where it belonged to.

Strangely, everyone appears to be getting very cheap insurance deals for the Golf R, partly due to the radar crash sensor thingy on the front bumper - I wonder how long that will last if they keep disappearing?

I had a Golf R on order and when the dodgy lease deals kicked off and it was no longer such a bargain, this was one of the reasons I decided to cancel.
