Diesel Touareg Test drive
Discussion
I have never owned a diesel vehicle, but took a 2007 2.5 TDi Touareg for a test drive today. It felt really rough until the engine warmed up, but even after that wasn't really a smooth drive. Is this what to expect in a VW diesel, or could there be a problem with the car?
Just to clarify, when I say rough, it was a small vibration felt in the car, but also the engine noise was loud inside the car.
The car is a 2007 65K miles vehicle.

There's two different 2.5TDIs that I can think of,
The v6 that was fitted to older A4s, Allroads and the like.
The 5-pot that was fitted to T4 vans.
Neither is a stellar choice, the 3.0 v6 is in a completely different league.
Yep,the five pot from the t4 was fitted to our Touareg,20 odd thousand miles of going somewhere in it and coming home without it,something was chewing crank sensors up,they kept replacing them it kept breaking down. The v6 that was fitted to older A4s, Allroads and the like.

They refused to accept that there was something wrong until the 6th,yes sixth sensors failed. FFS!
It turned out that it had picked up a strip of the sump baffle and this had wrapped, forced and bashed its self round the lower end of number one rod and fecked the cylinder.
Not just me either,
I read this a day or so before ours went for its second sensor and showed it to the main dealer tech, who dismissed it:
