Hey guys, quick one for you if someone can help.

My S4 has the Sport Diff. The a couple of weeks ago, when I started the car I recieved a warning on the dash saying that there was an error with the ESP and Sport Diff. Drove home, stopped to drop the wee boy off and when i restarted the car the error was gone. Thought it was wierd and that was the end of it. At the weekend the same thing happened again, pulled up at a petrol station, filled up and when I started the car the same error message. Drove home and turned the engine off, restarted it within 30 seconds and the error was gone.

Has anyone else had this problem? Car is under warranty so can book it into Audi to get them to have a look at it, but invariably these intermittent problems dont get looked at until they properly manifest themselves.

They did tell me when I bought the car that there were some errors stored in relation to the ESP and Sport Diff, which was apparently due to the car being moved without the engine being on (I had no clue what they were talking about) However they did clear the fault codes, but obviously whatever they thought the problem was...... wasnt.

Regards

Dr G

We've sold a lot of sport diff cars and so far they've proved very reliable. Even the very high mileage car with a horrible whining noise just turned out to have a poorly wheel bearing.

Faults like that are often something fairly simple like a steering angle, lateral G, wheel speed sensor etc. Rather than a mechanical fault as such the ECU is missing a signal that lets the ESP/stability/ACC systems work as they should.

Thanks for the reply.

To be fair I was thinking along the same lines. The fact that its an intermittent fault suggests a electrical / sensor issue as opposed to a mechanical fault. I've booked the car into the dealership to have the Stronic oil changed (not due to 40k and I'm at 35k but I like to get in a little early with things like that). They'll have a look again at the stored fault codes no doubt and hopefully give me a resolution on it.
