Which system is it exactly and what does that quote include?
The largest company in that market is Tracker, based in Uxbridge but their installers are mobile and pricing all here:

As food for thought, most competent car thieves are now able to very quickly disable trackers, so their effectiveness is largely limited to the type of thief that's taking your car to joyride it or use it for some other form of crime, in which case, would you actually want it back ?
No matter what's happened to the car, your insurance company will wash it's hands of any responsibility once it's back in your hands providing there's no physical damage to the car, but you can't quantify the long term mechanical damage that might have been done in their time ranting your car around for however long.
Personally, I'd not have it back
With my RS4, my insurance company just asked that I have the Audi approved alarm immobiliser and the discount for getting a tracker was curca £50/yr
Only my opinion, but food for thought

Cheers for that...I'm moving from a RS5 and my insurer (direct line) insisted 3 yrs ago that it needed a tracker if I wanted it fully covered, so maybe that's changed I'm just assuming I still need one..funny thing my premium actually went down a bit when I asked them for a quote on the new car something I wasn't expecting...
I would go with the tracker locate. It has the system that the police can track and also the gps option, which will allow tracker to inform the police where the car is. They are usually stolen and then parked up somewhere for a few days, this is to check if tracker is installed.
The competent thieves can jam the GPS system, but it's harder to block the VHF signal. Once activated, anytime it passes by a mast, it will report back to tracker, who then notify the police.
Tracker are always adding features to try and keep one step ahead, you may have seen that programme "Grand theft auto UK" on channel 5? Well because of that, a few changes have been made to the install process to help fool the thieves.
Once we receive a tracker signal, it usually results in the vehicle being found shortly after

Out of interest, and this is in no way me picking holes, roughly what percentage of cars with trackers fitted are recovered once stolen ?The competent thieves can jam the GPS system, but it's harder to block the VHF signal. I'd heard it was <20%, but this was from a police source, so not ideal info as they'd probably only be privileged to info for their region if at all

I honestly couldn't tell you, might be worth contacting tracker and asking as a potential customer?I'd heard it was <20%, but this was from a police source, so not ideal info as they'd probably only be privileged to info for their region if at all
Once the system is installed, tracker will also help locate the vehicle even if the subscription is no longer active. They charge the insurance company and according to tracker, they've never had any of the insurance companies say no to paying the fee.
If I had anything worth nicking, I'd have it on mine
Taken from the tracker twitter account
[Quote]Total stolen vehicle recovery figures for Aug - 45 recoveries valued £934,800. 11 arrests. To date, nearly 23k recoveries, worth £486m

Find an insurance co. that doesn't require one. When I bought my first XF, most companies wanted one. I did a lot if digging and got a great deal @L&V. As said. Once nicked, I wouldn't want it back. Gassing Station | Audi, Seat, Skoda & VW | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
