15" Wheels on a MK1 Fabia vRS
Discussion
Hi all,
My mother has a Fabia VRS. She's very happy with it but it is due new tyres on the front, and soon on the rear. The 205/45/16 size is expensive, and frankly uncomfortable and loud. I have looked at the option of "downgrading" 15" wheels (plenty to choose from from the VW family) with 195/50/15 tyres. The advantage is that tyres are much more reasonable, and hopefully the ride will improve.
I understand they will fit over the brakes provided the correct offset, has anyone done similar (or opposite) and what were the results?
I am also wondering what the insurance position is - they remain an oem size, albeit one never fitted to the specific vrs model. I don't expect it to change costs much (i will check)
Or is it a terrible idea?
Cheers
Felix
