Used C6 RS6 Service Intervals......
Discussion
Looking at a May 2008 RS6. Dealer tells me the service history is:
2010: 21k miles
2012: 30k miles
2014: 37k miles
Should the amount of mileage and time prior to the first service be of concern to me, because it does kind of stand out? To me it looks like a service was done very late, or is the 2 year interval thing the way these cars are serviced??
Thanks
(also, does anyone know if Audi would offer the option to take out a warranty for the car? It's currently with a non-Audi dealership)

Yes it will have been on long-life servicing and yes you can still buy an Audi warranty from Mondial, you'll need to get it inspected by Audi though I think.
I bought a warranty through warranty direct instead of Mondial, purely because I'm going to get a non-Audi mechanic to look after it for me rather than the dealer.

20k is a lot
It's right and it's wrong at the same time.If your driving consist of long, smooth journeys with few cold starts and little hard acceleration whilst doing high annual mileage then the car should be on longlife servicing and can go up to 20k.
For everyone else, particularly a car that is driven hard (i.e. anything with an S or RS badge) it should be serviced every 12 months or 10,000 miles, whichever comes sooner.
The majority of buyers string every service out to 2 years as it's cheaper/easier.
RS6 motor is hard as nails but get it on to annual servicing for peace of mind.
Yeah just seemed a little odd that whoever owned the car at the time (when the price they paid would've been considerably higher than it is now) didn't get the car serviced at the "correct" time (ok, not correct in terms of time, but surely mileage?)
It's the only thing causing me to think twice about the car (that and no reversing camera, but that's just me being pedantic!)
It supposedly has a remap (which I really want/need!) but no documentation to prove this.
Again, slightly annoying.

You'll want off find out because that could cause warranty/issues if you ever need to avail yourself of those services, ignorance is no defence against ahole warranty or insurance claim investigators. It's the only thing causing me to think twice about the car (that and no reversing camera, but that's just me being pedantic!)

Agree. I asked the salesman over the phone if there is any documentation to back up the claims of a remap.
"I've driven other RS6's and this one is a lot faster!"
Really?(!)
It would be good to know from where the remap was done as some are good and some are not so good! I remember reading a while back that MRC had a C6 in that had had a generic map done by a big name and it wasn't making great numbers and was running very very rich. A quick stage 2 MRC map later and it was firing on all cylinders, literally and figuratively speaking "I've driven other RS6's and this one is a lot faster!"
Really?(!)
If you're really serious about it you could get it inspected by a model specialist like MRC (assuming the garage will play ball and there's one near enough to consider that has an excellent rep) - that 20k 1st service would be enough to put me off as it suggests the original ownership was probably on the basis of 'I'm not going to own this long enough to worry about stretching the service till I can be bothered to take it' but no oil change from build to 2 years/20k is unlikely to have helped bearings etc, even if nothing untoward is obvious.
