Replacement ideas for RCD500

Morning all!
Have removed a dead RCD500 unit from my wife's 2006 Touran and now wondering what to replace it with. Ideally would like another "VW' branded model, but I fear that will be expensive (I need to phone the dealers to check...). Alternatively we could go for something aftermarket, but I understand they can drain the battery unless they are connected in a "special" way?
It needs to have radio, USB\memory card input and SatNav would be good, but not essential. Price wise not looking to pay too much because we will probably change the car in a couple of years.
