I'm posting this on behalf of a friend.

He has a 2004 Audi A4 where the ECON button stays on all the time. Also, the temperature becomes cooler when he slows down. The car doesn't heat up even on 26 degrees.

That's all the info I have at present. Anyone have any knowledge of what's going on here?

Edit - A4 is a 2005 (55 plate) model.

Does the engine temp rise to 90 and stay there or is the engine running cool as well? Just thinking it might be the thermostat stuck open.

Thermostat stuck open sounds right for lack if cabin heating. Econ button staying lit may suggest a fault with the AC system, low/no gas, faulty pressure sensor or compressor etc.

econ button staying on suggest compressor fault or no gas. Take it in kiwk fit for a recharge. if theres a fault or leak then no charge.

A bit of an update.

The ECON button is now fixed and his Air-Con needs charging. However, the heater is still on mild/cold even at 26 degrees.

When the temperature is increased it gets warmer for a little while but then drops off to cold again.

I'll ask more questions when I see him but this is all he has for the minute. You people still say it could be the thermostat?
