Huh, I was intrigued enough at that to go look(I've a US S4, so KNOW it has the adaptive dampers) -

Comment on audizine "The RS5 outside of North America is available with the optional Dynamic Ride Control. While it does have Comfort, Auto and Dynamic settings, its really mostly about eliminating body roll, dive and squat. Audi was forced to redesign the rear crash zone for the US market. The new design didn't leave enough room to mount the DRC valves. "
Looks like it's limited to the '5 then. Interestingly the quattro sports diff on the S5 Sportback lives behind the right side boot panel, with a humped cover over it, which is different to where it lives on the S4. Does suggest there's some detail differences in packaging.

Got any details on that, or a picture or diagram? Because I've read that a few times, looked at some diagrams on the net to check my sanity, and can't get my head round it - by definition it has to take the drive shaft as an input and output to the rear axles (or drive shafts, stub axles, however you'd like to call them).

To do this, it's got to be pretty much in the center of the car, and all the diagrams I've seen show it as a fairly compact unit, with the suspension beams almost wrapped around it.

If it's moved to the side at all, the suspension travel would be completely compromised, let alone the balance.

So...I don't think you mean what you think you mean smile (if you were talking about an Evo, and the hydraulic fluid reservoir for the active rear diff, absolutely, but that's not what you're implying).

Yours, a bit baffled...

I missed out the fact it's the ECU for the sports diff - sorry!

I don't have a pic of it with me

No, that's fine and makes perfect sense!

No pic needed - thank you; that was bugging me.

I was out in the car earlier so thought I might as well grab a pic...

Easy way to spot the sports diff on the S5, but as above it's mounted under the floor in the S4 so doesn't help with that!
