Audi R8 service costs from main dealer.

Ive had my V8 R8 about 7 months now and although the service indicator is showing 9800 miles and roughly 10 months until the next scheduled service I was thinking of treating it to an 'interim' oil service. It was last done 12 months ago and as I mainly only do short journeys,nearly two years on the same oil seems a bit long to me.
Anyway,went into my local Audi dealer today and they are asking £560 for an oil service which is basically an oil change and meassure the thickness of the brake pads.
Seems a bit rich to me. Ive had similar services done on M3 and Nissan GTR at main dealers before for around half that.
So,has anyone else had the same service recently from Audi and is this correct and am I just being arse raped because its an R8.
What also annoys me is that they have a big sign outside saying 'have two cars serviced for £299' and I know Audi use the same oil in all their cars as I was told this when buying a top up litre of oil.

If this is only an extra oil service that you want and the measuring of the discs is not required take it to halfords or one of the other chains/Indys
Even buy your own oil and just use their service for ramp labour and old oil disposal and save a fortune, its not as though they even have to reset the computer as it will still be due in 9000m ! Saved about 400£

Don't do this. A Halfords stamp in book won't help resale. Had a think about this and as its not a scheduled service and more for my own peace if mind I might take it to a very good indy I know and let them do it. All four services so far have been at Audi so I wanted to keep it main dealer but as this is 'unscheduled' work it wouldn't even matter if I didnt get the book stamped and just let the service indicator continue running until the next scheduled service then take it to Audi.
The car had only covered 15k miles at the last service so mileage wise services were very close,every 4k or so. As i will be using the car much more than the previous owner did this gap will at least tripple which is my main thinking for the 'interim' oil change.
The main point of the post really was to question the hefty price. I have just had a look in the owners manual however and it says it takes approx ten litres of oil! Even so,having bought a top up litre of oil from Audi at £20 I wouldnt expect them to charge more than £220 for the oil and filter which still leaves £340 for labour and oil disposal.
A bit more understandable maybe but still on the hefty side.

Definitely. Other forums seem to say that oil change service is £250+ at main dealer. I'd ask for a full quote, to see if they're planning to change brake fluid or pollen filter too.I'd also ask a second main dealer for a quote. And get them to match the quote from an independent. They all want your business.

Why would you want a stamp.......Ffs. Just get it done somewhere other than audi...it's only an oil change . Oh and it's only an audi !!!!! It uses regular oil that mercedes and bmw use, it's a nice car and the op'S pride and joy but it is still a regular 4.2l audi..op was only looking to save money on an oil change not miss a scheduled service.

He just wants to save money on an extra oil change for his own piece of mind, nothing more nothing less

Bringing this back to life, I am in the exact same position.

First two came back at £585 and I think this was for oil change and inspection, did ask if there was any room for movement, but I was told its fixed pricing. So tried Hitchin and they have quoted £585 for oil and inspection, but seems they would charge me £300 if I supplied my own oil and just wanted it changed, so as someone says further up it won't reset the service indicator.

IIRC these cars have three drain points, each needing a different socket key.
The last I heard was that these tools were unavailable on the aftermarket and Audi will not let each dealership have more than one of each, meaning effectively you have no choice but to use a franchised dealer.
I wonder if this is still the case?

If it's just the oil service that's required they will still reset the service indicator. There are a few other things they check on this service but it is basically an oil change. Supply your own oil,I use castrol edge which you can get 12 litres for online for around £90. As you say,you will still have to fork out about £300 for the labour and the stamp in the book but at least you should save about £200 over their silly price!

I think thats the route I am going down. I understand peoples views about main dealers and I kind of have the same, but like it or not most people still like to see a full dealer history on cars like these. My view is if the owner is happy to spend the money at the dealer then other maintenance isn't likely to have been missed.
If you're uncomfortable with £560 then don't buy a Porsche, minor service at opc was £1200 i.e. oil and filter change plus a free complimentary 'wreck the bodywork' valet.
Minor service on my v8 s4 is around the £250 mark from the stealer. Check exactly what they are assuming you are okay with receiving.
PS be careful if they start going on about the fixed price service as this is a cut down service and doesn't do everything that is specified in the service schedule for the car, w
