It's getting silly now, it's coming to the point where having a nice car just isn't worth the risk of getting robbed for it..... mine is so dirty it looks like a diesel! I think it's going to stay that way.

If you understand the risks and secure your house accordingly then you'll be better prepared.
We've a dog and I'll be beefing up the doors prior to getting the car.
My CTR was one of the first cars to be taken this way in 2003. Put me off getting another for years but life really is too short to be trundling around in an old fiesta as I did for a while.

I know the insurance on the MK7 R, GTI and GTD is very good due to the impact detection system, but if the thefts continue at this rate I wonder how long until the premiums escalate rapidly.
I park my car in my garage, but it is in an unlit residents' parking area with one entrance/exit. If I had an R, I'd be concerned everytime I saw a vehicle/someone coming up the drive behind me. But not enough to stop me wanting one as my next car!

As infuriating as it is to have a car stolen, not sure why the OP is telling the world that he's going to get another when any robber can trace his number plate, which he's shared and find his house address for a second hit...?The Stiglet said:

These are "Cult" cars of the moment, much hype and forum talk, like the B7 RS4 before it and many such cars down the years.
I really feel for the guys that have had their car stolen, but it is typical of the type of car and like hot hatches of the 80s are being hyped up as the cars to have, sadly that also means "the cars to steal".

Guess you can't protect much against that plus dying in a fire is worse than having your car nicked. Alarms, dogs, extra security can deter theives but never completely stop them
Point is don't make it easy. Can your windows be easily forced? Are your pvc doors simple to open? Lots of people think about these things after, I know I did.
Was a mare when my car was stolen. Had about a grands of golf and other stuff in there that wasn't insured.

You can get the name of the owner from the DVLA and from there, get the address using a bit of searching on Google or preferably, the Electoral Role.
Mate to be fair that's utter bulls**t. Dvla would not disclose someone's name if you rang them with a reg. if they did I would be frankly amazed.Freedomfighter said:

Can DVLA release information to private companies or individuals?
Yes. The law allows us to release information to anyone who can prove they have
reasonable cause to have it. The applicant has to abide by a set of strict conditions and pay
an administration fee to receive the information
