Where can I get my C6 S6 inspected for coking, put on a rolling road, cleaned, then retested? I'm based in London.

What is a reasonable quote for the above work?

I've decided to keep the car for another year and invest in it driving

MRC in Banbury area will sort it - don't know cost as it'll vary by engine type. Got their own rolling road for before/after comparison smile

Unit 20 up North do this service for the B7 RS4 but that's probably a bit far for you.

Cost wise, I was quoted around £800ish for the service when I was enquiring when I had my previous S6. Never got round to doing it though.

Hi Stiglet,

I've sent you a private message.

You're almost certainly better off calling rather than sending an email.

De-coking a V8 is ~10 hours of labour and dyno time if needed. I imagine a 10 cylinder car will be another couple of hours on top of this.

Few of the Mini specialists (and a few Audi/VW ones outside the UK) have started doing walnut blasting in lieu of the traditional decoking. Apparently just as effective but considerably less invasive and therefore costly. Might be worth asking around?

More info on the walnut blasting. Click the links to the forums and it'll show before and after pics. I've just emailed the seller to see if he does cars other than Minis.

Any body had this done on their TFSI ?
Was it worth it ?
How long did the benefits last ?
How much was it ?
Whos did it for you (pm if necessary)?

The intake valves at 85K on my Golf Edition 30 are nothing like as clogged up as the sales pictures portray.

I would check them with a borescope through a sensor hole before splashing out on walnut shell blasting.

£195 seems cheap for the work anyway. Mini intake manifolds are clearly VERY easy to remove compared to a TFSI engine!

There may be a small gain on an aspirated engine, but with a turbo, the gains would be negligible.

I've messaged the seller from Ebay. There is a special adaptor which fixes onto the intake port. At the moment, the only one he has is for the Mini hence him only being able to do the Mini engines. He's looking at branching out into Audis in the new year.
