Is it just me or is this a load of complete bks?

For my £145 (on a Q7) all I get is the invoice with a few notes on it (stating tyre tread depths and front brake pad % worn), that's it.

BMW do something similar and my 335i was about £50 which seemed entirely reasonable as they surely can't be checking much more than in an MOT?!

I guess I would've expected to see some sort of check sheet, with everything they'd looked at.

What exactly did you ask them to do?

An "inspection service" is normally a major service that's required every 2 years and includes oil, filters, and possibly more. £375 if your car is over 3 years old.

If you've just asked them to "check it over" then they've probably just done the usual checks that the do as part of the service, and charged you an hours labour for the privilege. Brakes, tyres, fluids and hopefully suspension components.

Nail on the head op.

You basically get the same with Audi with minor and major services it's just that they do "additional visual checks" on the major service. On my car they haven't actually picked up on stuff I knew was broken though and needed sorting, this needed to actually be pointed out to them, and that's on the "major" service.

I ended up just getting them to do the oil change for the stamp and now that's I'm outside of warranty use an Indepent garage who seem to do a far better and more detailed job for half of the price.

I didn't ask them to do anything, it's an item that's part of the service schedule! ( https://www.audi.co.uk/owners-area/servicing-maint... ) When the oil service was done it was only sitting at about 15k so left the inspection until 19k.

The car does cover a lot of miles (now on 21k) but is only a year old. From googling it appears I'm not the only person thinking it' a rip off.

Normally you'd have alternate oil service and inspection service. Inspection service is basically and oil service plus some or all of air filter, fuel filters and plugs. https://www.audi.co.uk/owners-area/servicing-maint...

I think you had the inspection service, but minus the oil change, which explains the low price. I'm amazed your invoice doesn't itemise parts, etc. Why not ask the dealer what they did?

Split servicing is sometimes a bit odd like that.

Oil change every 9-18K Depending on how you drive
But then Inspection every 18000miles.

So depending on what your annual mileage is might be better on fixed servicing. Oil and Inspection every year regardless.

Should have got a copy of the tick sheet though.

The Audi rape continues, a year on now the 40k mile 'inspection' service costs £225, again with no parts provided or other work done. If it happened to lie on the same date an oil service was needed there'd be no change out of £500, blimey.
