My search for an S6 or S8 continues.

I've seen a sprint blue S6 for sale. Although I love the colour on smaller S cars such as the S3 and S/RS4, I'm not so sure it suits the bigger proportions of the S6. What would you guys think?

Vote in favour here - I think it's so distinctive, and since the S6 is already overly stealth, the colour really helps it stand out a bit.

It doesn't look dirty too quickly, and it's a good combo with light grey leather as well.

Just as well I like it: that's what I ended up with.

Looks nice and good price for the mileage. Sprint blue on a saloon I think is OK.

I wouldn't consider an avant in that colour.

What is the mileage and price? (I couldn't see it in the post anywhere)

Love that. One day I WILL have a sprint blue something S or RS.

Still, the ultimate stealth colour is silver wink

Black's the fastest though. Something about it absorbing all the light in the spectrum that pulls it forward a little bit more...

Anyway, that sprint blue on is back up for sale at £11995 on Autotrader. He told me previously he'd take £11750 for it.

I fancy an avant or S8 next, as long as this beast doesn't bankrupt me!

This engine is just something else.

If you fancy what I believe is the highest specification S8 in the country, I might be looking to move mine on in a month or 2!

I certainly wont be the cheapest one about though, but it has had EVERYTHING done in the last couple of months!

If you're not on the A8Parts forum then that'd be worth a punt - they will test the length of the options list though! If it's got extended leather up to and incl dash, ACC, ceramics, HDD nav (assuming it's a facelift) plus some rear seat luxuries I'd expect an orderly queue smile

Who'd want ceramics? From what I'm lead to believe, they're a time bomb. What with cracks and chips writing them off.

Not long til the cost of replacing them writes the car off effectively.

Nobody needs ceramics (apart from a couple of people I know with RS6 tuned to stage 2+ who run 200+mph on runways for kicks) but to be in with a shout of being highest spec S8 it would need to have them - also forgot B&O option smile

I've seen quite a few S8s with them and I'd avoid them too, although you can always remove and replace with steel discs for relatively little money - certainly less than a front disc and pad change on a set of ceramics

Is the S6 a boggo A6 with the amazing engine? Not being pejorative, just trying to justify buying one, does it have a load of specific parts or are they as cheap to run as a 3.0tdi (apart from the obvious fuel, tax, insurance difference?)
And what MPG do you get on a run?

The S6 is quite a rare beast - for new buyers if they could justify the running costs they could probably stretch to an RS for the considerable increase in grunt.

The RS had some issues with front wheel bearings that should've all been sorted and the odd issue with brakes and sensors - nothing you couldn't reasonably expect and pretty much bomb proof compared to the B7 RS4 or C5 RS6, but not sure if those carried down to the S, or if the parts are common to lowlier C6 variants.

The S6 seems to be much the same, but with less power to work the mechanics it ought to be at least as reliable. Given there's a decent number over 100k miles it seems the engine is robust

The C6 has its share of fundamental niggles like water ingress and occasionally flaky electronics but overall it's a reasonably sensible choice in man maths terms smile probably better on fuel than my V8 too!

No ceramics! Took me a long time to find a top spec car without the damn things - costs of replacements to one side, they are horrendous for regular road driving.....

As for spec > how about rear seat entertainment, individual electric reclining rear seats with lumbar, heated seats front and rear, massage seats front and rear, vented seats front and rear, champagne fridge in rear, adaptive cruise, full Bang and Olufsen system, extended leather, electric rear and side blinds, keyless go etc. on top of all the usual paraphernalia hehe

I have had a few of these, and have yet to see another one with all of the above wink

Nice biggrin

It's a serious suggestion to make known your interest in selling on the A8 parts forum, with some detailed pics. There's a number of people on there with the means to buy who would probably move their current cars on if a really mint top spec example came along.

They're hard bargainers though, I warn you lol

It's amazing how many rolled off the line with the most bog basic spec and the majority stop at B&O and a few interior trinkets. One with ACC and B&O is rare, never mind the rest smile

Cheers Adrian..... I will register on there then smile

Mine is just @ 58K miles, so is in having Major service with plugs and the auto transmission oil change that is scheduled. Service wasn't due - but thanks to KungFu's spot that the Major service inc. plugs is under the fixed price servicing for the S8 - it seemed as cheap to do that as just doing the plugs alone!

It has also had tyres, discs and pads all round in the last couple of months and is under Audi approved warranty for another 21 months!

I have a company car on the way - but I must admit, I am still tempted to keep this anyway.... but having 2 large cars on the drive does seem a little overkill! hehe
