Not without rods, pistons, bigger exhaust manifold, bigger turbo, bigger down pipe, bigger intercooler, bigger MAF, bigger injectors and a full custom map it can't. Some might consider that a lot of bother, and expense.

The only 'over built' 4 cylinder VAG turbo engine currently available is the K04 EA113 engine from the 8P S3 / Edition 30 / Rocco R. That motor can make 400hp on stock internals and stock turbo - running at 1.7 bar. Meth injection required too. The MK7 R EA888 can make more power, theoretically, but seems it has fragile turbos and other components.

1.8Ts were only ever built to do a job and no more. The early ones used standard 16V rods!!
