Hi all,

I've been given two choices for my next company car (excluding the Hyundai's and Hatchbacks on the list) as per..

http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/reviews/compare-cars...

I currently have a 2011 Octavia Greenline II hatch with next to no equipment! If it was Leon SE vs Octavia SE the Leon would win hands down with the LED lights etc which I really want but the Octavia Elegance has a few bits which the Leon doesn't (Auto main beam, dimming mirror, auto wipers, parking sensors, leather, 17's)

I really am quite obsessive with the LED headlights, I'm used to Xenon's on my M135i and just don't think I should be ordering a car in 2015 with halogen DRL's and headlights - picky I know. The tax is also slightly cheaper on the Leon as its the eco model and given that both cars have the same sized fuel tank I should be re-fuelling less in the Leon which is a bonus. I've tested both cars in the last 6 months but the Octavia was an SE and the Leon not an Eco model.

I found the Octavia very grown up with a better interior than the Leon,, which admittedly is where I spend my time but the Leon is a bit more more unique looking. I appreciate they are basically the same car but they have quite a few differences.

Just wondering if anyone had any pointers that I'm missing?

Cheers, Max

Boring I know, but I'll have this car for three years so need to get it right! Looks like work will pay for the climate and parking sensors on the Leon so I've pretty much chosen.

Yep Leon sounds like the better base car, but will need a few options. Definitely get the 17in alloy upgrade as the standard 16in alloys let the looks down. Also worth adding on the Convenience pack for auto lights/ wipers etc.

Alternatively, add Xenon lights to the Octavia, which come with LED running lights? I agree the Skoda interior does seem nicer, depends on how much of a consideration that is for you.

If they would let me have Xenon's on the Octavia I would go for it hands down to be honest, but its a £1k+ option.

I will push for the convenience pack if they OK the climate tomorrow and see what I can get. The wheels are a no-hoper as well unfortunately.

I've had my Leon hatch for a couple of months now, although different engine and spec, and very happy with it so far. I didn't consider the Octavia as it's too big for what we wanted but I like them as well. I think the Leon ST looks better than the Octavia.

The LED lights are very good, massive improvement on the standard lights we had before and better than the Xenons on my 350Z. However, I would say they don't seem quite as bright as some modern BMW/Merc xenons that have passed me on the motorway. Convenience pack is a must, think it was £150 and has auto lights/wipers.

I will try for the Convenience, but would rather the auto main beam really and that pack is double that!

Does your NAV look like this?

Concerned by this pic which is also on the tech pack page on Seat.co.uk..

It looks like the first picture, sat nav is ok actually, not as good as my newish Garmin and can be a bit slow navigating through the menus, but is accurate and works well with route advice and lane guidance next to the Speedo as well.

Phew, and that isn't the Nav 'High' that you can get?

The Nav in the Leon does have a slightly smaller screen than the Columbus and Discover Pro units you'd get in an Octavia or Golf accordingly

It was OK in the demo I had, usually use Waze anyway! Just didn't want a small screen for the radio, settings etc.

Thought I'd say that I've ordered the Leon in Technic Grey with Climate & Parking Sensors so it will look the same as this..

Good choice, although I'm not a fan of that colour, bit to bronze for me, I prefer the Monsoon grey. Did you get the convenience pack?

I couldn't decide on the paint, I thought it stood out from every other grey on the market ad the more I looked the browny grey looked a nicer colour than the blue grey which looked a bit like primer!

Didn't get the convenience pack annoyingly, but I'm used to the Octavia having NOTHING so it will be enough of a step up.
