Hi,

I've been given an old 1.6 A3 (2000) to replace my partner's Corsa, unfortunately it is riddled with annoying little problems. The main one being an issue with the speedometer, it over reads by quite a bit. Assuming my satnav/GPS is correct 30mph is 35, 40 is 55 and 70 is 90-ish, so quite a way out from anything I've driven before.

Has anyone come across this before? I've been doing some research and it appears this model suffered with the speedometers failing along with the fuel gauges but that doesn't seem to be my problem. Later models can be re-calibrated but does this apply to mine or is it can-bus only?

Pretty boring first post really.

Welcome wink

Obvious first question: Are wheel and tyre sizes correct for the model?

Thanks, yeah the wheels and tyres are the correct standard sizes. A few people I've spoke to seem to think it's a faulty speed sensor but I'm not so sure. If it was faulty wouldn't it behave erratically or not at all?

Long shot, it's not been fitted with a KPH speedo has it?
