Leon Mk1 Electrical Problems

I'm hoping someone can help!
My son's Leon Mk1 1.6 petrol has cut out. Problem started with the battery light coming on, then ABS light, then everything electrical died, although the engine kept running.
Now the engine will start although it seems to have a fly-by-wire throttle as pressing the pedal does not give more engine revs.
It had a new battery about 6 weeks ago so it shouldn't be related to that.
Any help, ideas, guidance would be much appreciated!
