Mines had full audi service history, new tyres and pads and discs all round before I bought it.
Servicing is cheap even at main dealers. They have fixed prices servicing for cars older than 3 years. Minor is £189. Major is £365 and that includes two air filters and ten platinum spark plugs. Bargain!
It's a big lazy old v10 lump, no turbos, no dpf. Get it bought.

Will get some tomorrow, ultimate q car, a silver a6 saloon.
Only drove it 20 minutes home, needs something doing on exhaust, resonator delete or back box, or both, who knows, not spending Milltek money that's for sure. Will take it to a specialist tomorrow to get a price.
Need to get it on VCDS as bluetooth not functioning, other than that, happy to report all ok so far.
The advert was poor, and there's a few bits it has that I was unaware of, DAB radio, TV, dimming external mirrors, memory seats, electric steering column, nice!

I feel I should own up at this point too
so I had the resonator delete on mine, and it was a very very nice uplift from stock - nice burble and a good bit more noise on full chat.
but... I did eventually go milltek (non-res first, then added in the res pipes as it was a little too obnoxious in the mornings)
so beware... the sound of the v10 is very addictive!
best of luck with the purchase too!

Just been to see a local exhaust specialist, he said resonator delete would be ok, but wouldn't give that deep rumble.
He recommended backboxes only at a cost of £280.
Seemed confident that would do the job.
I did ask about resonator delete as well as backboxes but he said that would be too much.

That's a really good price for backboxes. I've been quoted £450 plus vat at a place up here in Leeds.
Will back boxes alone do the job for me?Found this:

Back boxes and resonator delete.
Sounds awesome.
If all goes to plan, I will do a before video tomorrow, and an after on Friday, so you can see the difference.
Nice! In an ideal world I'd have had an avant, but to be honest I'd discounted getting one altogether until this one came up.

Great buy, I'm really impressed with mine so far. It's great in the current weather.
I had the backboxes deleted on mine at a local garage.
First of all they just put straight pipes on to dual tips as we figured it couldn't be that noisy as the standard car is so quiet. It was *Biblically* noisy! Much too much.
Second they put in a couple of Vortex type silencers in, one each side, like this
http://www.vortexexhausttechnology.com/
That was still quite noisy but almost bearable apart from the 60 seconds of cold start which could be embarrassingly loud if I was at a clients.
Third version was to put some larger back boxes in place of the vortex silencers but unfortunately nothing they had in stock on the day would fit in the space and get the tailpipes out in the right area so they actually re-fitted my OEM backboxes and did the rear resonator delete.
This is only a little louder than stock but quite pleasant and I'd probably prefer a little more volume when I'm 'on it' but having lived with one that was too noisy I'm happy to be back with a Q car
I've got a clip of the second version somewhere which I'll upload if anyone is interested.
Cheers,
Phil

Car looks lovely rufmeister. I love the way how extraneous badges are kept to a minimum in the S6. It just says S6 on the rear with no Quattro or engine size.
Still really interested in hearing and seeing your exhaust once it's done. If it's any good, I might take a drive down to Milton Keynes. Just booked mine in for a wheel refurb and re colour in gunmetal grey.

Here's the link to Mk2 with the Vortex silencers - it's not a cold start on the video but think +50% minimum and very off-beat as the secondary air injection does it's thing for 60 seconds or so.
The current resonator delete is quiet tame really but does sound nice and enables you to assume full Q car guise when you want to.
