This thread has just made me want an S6 Avant even more...! Shame I'm doing 15-20k a year or I'd snap one up tomorrow!

Great cars gents - the sound is spot on IMO.
Eat noodles = drive S6. Sorted.

Man maths wins every time.

I run a bar and don't get in until around 4:30am on a Saturday. Getting on Pistonheads is part of my wind down time!
I did wonder!!

Neighbours would love you rocking up at 5am with a rumbling V10. I have to start mine and get moving asap, the noise they make when cold is unreal.

One of my friends has seen a Powerflow exhaust for sale on Facebook (used). The only thing is it's none res and has no backboxes either. Just straight through pipes. Yikes! Up for £150, if I can get it for £100 it'll be worth a giggle...
That will be a bargain at that, a loud bargain, but a bargain.

I'm used to mine now, wouldn't mind a bit more volume now, but saying that, it's nice and subtle at the minute, and I don't intend on spending anything on the car other than servicing etc, so sticking with it.

Picking up a C6 V10

I'll post pics up

Is there any other suppliers of exhausts apart from Milltek, Magnoflow ?
There's a video clip of my custom system earlier in this thread.

GREAT value for money, and transformed my enjoyment of the car.

Very nice.

Factory window tints?

The rear looks soooo much better than my early model.

What's it got in the way of options?

Options wise navigation plus no ipod lead
Reversing sensors and bone stereo, rear std tints and front done by dealer
iPod connectivity is a simple one, just costs a few £.

I installed the Audi AMI in place of the 6 CD changer in the glove box.

A how to guide here:

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=16&...

This is for MMi 2G, I think yours is 3G, so a different install, sure someone else will be along shortly to advise.

Found this on eBay if it is 3G: 121586736737

I use one of these:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/ViseeO-Tune2air-WMA1000-ca...

It's streams music from phone via Bluetooth, to save me opening the glove box every time and plugging it in.

I use TuneIn on my phone, you get no functionality tough AMI, but set up the phone, and the system will play whatever your phone does.

In terms of video, the 2G doesn't allow it, although various add ons can be bought to do this.

I have AV inputs somewhere, according to MMI, but no idea how to access them or use them.

If only it was the cable!!

You need this: 111619618284

It's honestly a 2 minute job, pop out the CD unit, unplug, plug AMI in, and click it in, away you go.

The lead plugs into the AMI unit, lads of different leads available, USB etc, so depends on your phone.

I find the bluetooth adapter perfect for iPhone, can listen to TuneIn or whatever, and still have phone to hand for any other bits you need, when not driving.

Have either of you done anything with exhaust
I get a custom one made up for 1k bur I'm not after masses of sound.

Just unsure whether the removal of resonators will be enough obviously keeping the dreaded drone away

I will purchase the dangle previously mentioned seems like a neat solution what's the quality like of the music ?
http://vid23.photobucket.com/albums/b383/h20ruf/IMG_0499.mp4 That's mine, under £300, custom back boxes using the standard tailipes.

Enough to retain the q car look and noise, until you hit the throttle.

Sound quality through AMI is perfectly acceptable, but I'm no audiophile.

No idea what boxes were used, the company I went to was Flow Dynamics in Milton Keynes, they are Powerflow agents so probably one of their bits. Only cost £285 iirc, so definite value for money.

I think your car will be MMi 3G by the way, think it was standard on facelift, but not certain. I think the way to tell is the main control knob is different.

I have MMI 3g and I have no AV inputs (TV tuner)

So I would hook this wire up to the back of the CD player ?

Apologies in advance for the noob questions

Booked in for the back boxes to be changed over the weekend - will post up a video later

Nice one! Make sure you do!

Its such an addictive sound once you've taken the leap and had something done to the exhaust. Driving in manual, downshifting so it hits between 3-4000 rpm, sounds lovely.

As far as your MMI/AMI question, I don't really know, try a search on vwaudiforum thats generally a very quiet forum, but quite a lot of useful info on there.

Cheers for that.

I get bored quickly. Nothing to do with the car, it's great, very fast, supremely understated, great exhaust note, just superb.

I fancy an S8, or wait a bit and get an RS4 or S5.

Looks like no S8 for me! Need another work vehicle, so my S6 is up for sale.

Took it to get cleaned earlier, had a few comments and looks at the car wash, gutted to get rid of it, but will eventually get my hands on an S8!!!
