High Mileage V10
Discussion
I've been eyeing that one up since it came up for sale. It was originally £7995. Now it's £7600ish. Needs to be around £7k or less to be worthwhile. Might be down to something like an o2 sensor but I've heard that some sensors are an engine out job to replace. Also, the sales patter states that £3,000 was spent on this car a thousand miles ago. If that much money was spent, why not spend the extra to make sure it runs properly.
I took a bit of a punt on mine after buying it with the EML on but fortuitously, it was an easy fix.

Ok KungFuPanda, its baaaaaaaack!
I haven't done video yet as my wife is busy, but the fitters are putting a video up shortly on their FB.
2 x back boxes fitted, with stock tailpipes retained for the OEM look. Initially they fitted straight through silencers, but took them off as they said it was too much. I had told them I want an improved note, without too much noise in the cabin, hence they kept the resonators, as they are directly under the cabin, and would cause booming while cruising.
Initial impressions are favourable. Sounds nice on tickover, not overly loud, but noticeable theres a V10 under there now. Cruising at low revs, can hardly notice it, but plant the throttle and theres a noticeable difference from stock, which was extremely muted.
Theres a 20m tunnel nearby, on the way there I nailed it through it, and you could really couldn't hear much, but on the way back, big difference!
Having never experienced a Milltek 1st hand, I have nothing to compare it too, and on the video the guy took, it didn't sound deep and loud like the Millteks do, but on his phone, it sounded good.
I think I'd call this a happy medium, OEM looks, and an improved exhaust note without being raspy, or too OTT.
Anyway, leave it up to you to decide, will post a link later.

At least given that it was too loud with straight through silencers shows you can get a decent sound with the resonators in place. I'm looking forward to hearing it.
Got my car booked in for a wheel refurb and colour change next week. I'll consider getting the exhaust done in March I reckon. Can't justify spending too much all at once.

Sounds great in the flesh, the video doesn't capture it well I don't think, lots of background noise.

Bit much!
Maybe ring and ask what they did so you can get it replicated.
I love that they were able to retain original tailpipes, nice and subtle.
I think I know what needs to be done. It's just the cost. There's a place in Leeds that can do me new backboxes which they say will sound good but they've quoted £350 plus vat which is a fair bit more than what you paid.Maybe ring and ask what they did so you can get it replicated.

Just found a video of a car seemingly with just the backboxes done. The original resonators all look present and correct. Nice sound. I could handle it being a little bit louder...

At 5 am on a Sunday morning? Fun night? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHyZySaRvF4
That sounds nice on the video, mind you, they all do!
I'm currently thinking of where I need to "just pop out" to, any excuse to get in it. The novelty has not worn off yet, sure it will when I fill it up twice a week from "just popping out".

I run a bar and don't get in until around 4:30am on a Saturday. Getting on Pistonheads is part of my wind down time!
I did wonder!! Neighbours would love you rocking up at 5am with a rumbling V10. I have to start mine and get moving asap, the noise they make when cold is unreal.

One of my friends has seen a Powerflow exhaust for sale on Facebook (used). The only thing is it's none res and has no backboxes either. Just straight through pipes. Yikes! Up for £150, if I can get it for £100 it'll be worth a giggle...
That will be a bargain at that, a loud bargain, but a bargain. I'm used to mine now, wouldn't mind a bit more volume now, but saying that, it's nice and subtle at the minute, and I don't intend on spending anything on the car other than servicing etc, so sticking with it.

Would it be a rude question to ask what you paid for the car ?I'm used to mine now, wouldn't mind a bit more volume now, but saying that, it's nice and subtle at the minute, and I don't intend on spending anything on the car other than servicing etc, so sticking with it.
