Hi All

Looking for an Audi RS6 Avant and want the V10 model and finding them a little thin on the ground if i'm honest or maybe just fussy !!!

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2008-08-AUDI-RS6-5-0-RS6...

This one I have viewed twice and seems to be lacking on optional extras but is low mileage and clean - and I don't need a tv or sun roof really altho would have liked ceramics frown

Anyone know the car or have any advice as used to a good old oily v8 ......

PS KEEPING THE TVR so will proudly have over 10 litres on the driveway so global warming beware !!

Thanks

Ty

Looks tidy, are you aware of the recent increase in o-ring failure?

Costs circa 50p for the o-ring buts it an engine out job costing £k's

Being low mileage it might qualify for an Audi extended warranty which will cover this if it occurs https://www.audi.co.uk/owners-area/audi-insurance-...

Hi Barry

I have been looking at the options and it comes in at £997 with a £250 excess for a comprehensive warranty with 15000 miles maximum so may be worth considering as would be good for peace of mind !

the dealer offers a free three month warranty but maximum of £2000 per claim so may try and use that to get the price down a little instead !!

Beginning to think if I can get it for £29000 with the warranty it would be a reasonable target and they will also service and change the gearbox oil with audi parts as well as a years mot -

The last audi service was at 34000 ish miles a year ago so due an oil change - will check with audi warranty that if they carry that out the warranty is still valid !

Thanks for your comments and advice re warranty

Much appreciated

Ty

They're reasonably cheap now and overall incredibly durable; consumables being the biggest cost which are controlled by your right foot.

Not yet seen the oil leak be a problem. Think we've had a couple through with a tiny dribble of oil but not a measurable amount or causing any issue.

I've got one and it's awesome, it's hugely capable and very very quick (mine has an MRC map taking it North of 700bhp) but it's not a car I've bonded with really and can't see me keeping it more than a year or so.

I bought one just before Christmas. It's staying standard as it's still under Audi Warranty and I prefer to keep it that way.
It's a complete departure from my normal type of car but it suits my circumstances at the moment, which is a fast family/dog wagon. The only thing I could really do with is a tow bar so I could get the bike rack on or trailer a dirt bike but I can always use the wifes car I suppose.

Yeah not being able to fit a tow bar annoys me slightly, if we want to take our bikes anywhere we have to use our towbar carrier on the wife's FL2. I know I could put them on the roof but going on a family holiday means we'd be using the roofbox too...

Don't think there's many of the fast wagons that can take a towbar. The new RS6 can have one but it's still outside my budget.

I'm in the same boat. ML63 or RR S/C are the obvious choices...

My mates selling his 2010 low mileage saloon here:

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/a...

Really great car with loads of extras, ceramics and 750bhp. A really well looked after enthusiast car that I've been in personally and it's a well sorted car he's spent a fortune on.

You can physically fit a towbar to one but they aren't certified to tow. You'd need to go to a specialist to get the right look with the bumper cut for a removable bar but it would be fine to carry bikes.

Looks like 3G MMI which is quite rare in the C6 too.

Just picked up mine yesterday. I have been looking for the right one for months. However, I wanted the Saloon.

Mine is a 2010 with MRC tweaks and ceramics. Previous owner has kept her in very fine fettle and she goes like a scalded cat.

From the C63 to this, there is no comparison. Awesome with 750bhp and 1055nm torque it flies and, thanks to the ceramics stops immensely fast too.

I have had my 2009 RS6 Avant in Sepang for about 3 months now; still in the honeymoon period smile

I have a 700+ PS MTM tune, along with a Miltek. Factory options include soft close doors, advanced key, TV, tints, etc etc.

It did have the 'Dreaded' oil leak on first inspection, but the dealer fixed it prior to collection. It was also fully checked over by an independent 'expert' from the RS246 forum for me; he gave me a 3 page report on everything down to the minutest detail - you should find someone to do this for you.

Having previously owned 911, XFR, S8, etc. it still blows me away how rapid this thing is and how you could probably reach 100mph in places you never thought it possible. Probably.

Fuel consumption is something to look at carefully, my wife uses it for the school run (4 miles) and shopping etc and manages to average 10mpg, burning the best part of 300 quid a month. I could lease and run a small hatchback for that!! But then this would sit in the garage, unused for 4 weeks out of 5, and that would be a shame; for every second an RS6 is not being used someone, somewhere, is missing out on a whole load of smiles.

Great to see you're enjoying Andy's old car, he's missing it already! You got a good one there, and a fast one (other than being a saloon so clearly the slower shape wink )

Only worry is the 10mpg figure !!! I get more than that ( mostly ) in the tvr !!

Got one sorted now thanks in phantom black without ceramics but with only 41000 miles and a new audi service and warranty

Most happy and get her next week
