I had a manual version and was averaging 44 mpg on a daily 25 mile M25 motorway commute. Could get it up to 49 mpg on a long steady cruise. Great engine and the quattro gives it the dingle dangles.

My son has the manual....we drove Southampton to Aberdeen (very) steady 80/85 ...42mpg .....very easy to average 35mpg with some town work. Pretty economic considering 4wd and the weight of the thing. All numbers from computer readout.

My previous gen C6 A6 3.0 TDI with the less economical engine would average low 40s on a motorway run. So with a lighter car and more economical engine, mid 40s should be easy enough.

Agreed. My A6 (55 plate) is 32-44 depending on load and right foot.

Figures suggested worryingly close to my 2.0 TDI 143's economy.

I had an 06 2.0 TDI manual A4.

I never saw 50 on the OBC for a long run!

Yeah, in my experience mid 30s average and up to mid 40s on a run. Town stuff will be ~28.

I'm driving an A5 2.0 TDI quattro currently; does 41 on a smooth run. 50 needs granny driving. Downhill. With a following wind. And the engine turned off. And squinting at the DIS... tongue out

At least you can blame that on Quattro! Mines is 143 fwd model!

That's about right for one of those; the only real world 50+ MPG Audis are A1 and A3. Big car small engine never tends to be amazing on fuel.
